@ms4511 Have you tested yet? I've been thinking of you guys. How cool would it be to find a sibling!
@Shauna How are you feeling? Do you know when your next IUI will be?
I'm counting down to Monday to see the little nugget again. My thyroid levels have been all over the place, so the dr has me doubling my dose in the mornings.
So I am on CD10 today and have a follicle scan tomorrow! Hoping that my follie(s) are nice and big! If they are good in size, hoping to have the IUI Friday. I will have more information tomorrow though.
@Kim Yeah, the light spotting is normal. When it turns bright red and you have back pain, that's when you need to go see your doctor. I'm so happy to hear that things are progressing and going well for you! Excited for you for Monday!!!
@Jami How is everything going your way?!
Quick question, when you take Clomid, does it throw off an OPK? I feel like last IUI, I ovulated Friday and my IUI was Saturday. So I ended up buying an OPK and start taking them around CD6. They all came back just a circle, then yesterday and today they both came back as flashing smiley faces, meaning I am at high fertility. It says when you get the solid smiley face, that means its go time and you should do the IUI the following morning. But I'm not sure if that applies to me because I took Clomid. Does it have an effect?
@Kim how are you doing? Did everything go ok on Monday?
@Shauna how are the follicles looking? Any idea of when you will have IUI? We never did Clomid so I'm not sure but I have heard that your cycle can change with taking it.
As far we go everything is going well. We were 13 weeks on Tuesday and we met with the OBGYN and he's doing good. We actually just started telling people now. We don't go back to the Dr until 17 weeks now.
Had an ultrasound today. Kinda bummed, it's CD11 for me and usually around this time I have a nice sized follicle. But today, I had a couple follicles, but only measuring about 10mm. I go back on Friday to have another ultrasound to see the growth and then decide on when the IUI will be.
We also discussed what is going to happen next if this round does not work. I will begin injectables. I will have to try three months of that AND if I still do not become pregnant, then we will do IVF. She advised us to start saving now for that.
@Jami That's awesome that y'all are starting to tell people!! What kind of reactions have you gotten?
@Shauna. I thought i posted in regards to your Clomid post last night but I guess it didn't go through. Sorry!! That is kind of a bummer about the follicles. We had a month like that but when we went back they had grown so don't give up yet. Injections aren't terrible...They aren't FUN but they aren't the worst thing. Keep your head up. That just night be the right thing for you!
@Jami we go back this coming Monday. I'm 8 weeks today and ice had a migraine and I've been nauseous. Hasn't been a great day. But... hopefully it will be better tomorrow. So happy you get to share your news now!!
@Shauna your cycle could be off but if you usually have nice follicles I'm sure it will get there. I have to tell you we had better success with a longer cycle. Stay strong.
@Kim Yay 8 weeks. Hang in there, its actually better when you have symptoms like these my Dr said.
Everyone has been very happy and supportive with the exception of our in laws but we don't talk to them anyway. My family has been awesome and my wife's siblings and extended friends have been great. Our friends are really happy for us.
@Jami So happy for you!!! It will be opposite for us... My in laws are going to be SO excited. They have been asking us for grand kids since we got married almost 4 years ago! haha My parents probably won't be as excited. My dad is a pastor and their beliefs don't line up with our life style. But they still invite my wife over for holidays and birthdays and such. So they may just need a little time to get used to the idea. It is still biologically THEIR grandchild.
@Kim we just go to a point that you just can't let them get to you and it's really sad. We actually don't speak to my in-laws. It's been a couple years now and we thought maybe with my wife being pregnant it would change but they did find out from my sister-in-law and they never reached out to us. We just got a good for them. It's sad because they will miss out on things. Just make sure you concentrate on you and the baby. Anything stressful just keep at a distance.
That is really unfortunate. I think I might tell my parents next weekend... it's been rough keeping it in! I talk to my mom every day after work. I think they may need a bit of time to process.
Happy Monday!! My appointment went well today. I still have a couple of cysts, but they have decreased in size. Baby's heartbeat is 166, so it has gotten stronger. And so big!! I didn't expect it to grow so much in two weeks. I had to video the whole thing since my wife couldn't take off, but they have released me to my OB/GYN, so things are going great.
@Shauna How did things go on Friday for you? Have you gotten to do the IUI?
Friday, I was pretty upset. Found out that my follicles did not grow any, but she found an additional 10mm follicle on my right side. I am going back tomorrow to have another scan to see the growth. No word on when the IUI will be or if it will even happen this month. Fingers crossed to get some good news tomorrow.
Hopefully good news tomorrow. Did you use Clomid last cycle? I don't remember it ever messing with my follicles, but I do remember it delaying my cycle quite a bit. I liked Femara much better. I would ask if that is an option for you guys
Good morning. I did use Clomid 150mg this cycle and last cycle. My first cycle I used Clomid 100mg. The appointment yesterday was worse than I thought it could be. I went in, had my ultrasound, and no growth, still all in the 10mm range. Doc was looking around and said to me that I may have PCOS. Right when she said that, it was like I couldn't hear anything else. Thankfully my wife was there and could respond and talk about the issue. Doc sent me to get a lot of blood work done and I am to return to lab on Monday to have more blood work done. I will not be seeing or even hearing from the doctor with results until earliest Monday afternoon, but most likely not until Tuesday. I am such at a loss right now and don't really understand anything. I am not over weight, I have had regular periods for the most of my "period life", I would say that I'm pretty healthy for the most part, I just don't get it. So now instead of researching the process of becoming pregnant, I find myself researching PCOS and trying to become more educated on it. Do you ladies know anything about PCOS and what I should expect?
I'm so happy to hear that you ladies are still doing great!!
I have very little knowledge except for the other day I was looking at my records they released to my OB and from our visit on the 3rd, it said "Underlying issue: PCOS". I had NO clue. That could have been why I wasn't getting pregnant but NO one ever mentioned it to me I, too, had regular cycles pre fertility drugs. But always had a cyst or two after each BFP. But I guess since they tested themselves, nothing was mentioned. After my BFP I had several large cysts the doctor mentioned...i think 4 or 5 on the right and 2 on the left. They have since gone down. I just have one large one left on my right. I know that wasn't much help but I wanted you to know you're not alone and I can certainly relate to frustrating times on TTC
@Shauna my sister in law has PCOS but she also is very overweight and has the classic symptoms such as facial hair and very irregular periods. I thought you mentioned that you periods were regular before you started this process? You don't sound like the classic PCOS case from what you've said although I'm not a DR either. I will say she did end up having 3 boys all separate pregnancies with lots of IUI so it's not a hopeless. Hang in there.
I have decided that I'm going to tell my parents this evening. I'm a little nervous. Not of how their reaction might affect me, I've made peace with that, but just of the tension and the process of actually telling them.
I've been talking to my sister in law today, who I didn't think was very cool with the ides, but she told me that she and my brother love this baby already and we don't always have to agree on everything to love each other as family.
That made me feel tons better and now I'm ready to be open with my parents. I realize they may need a bit of time to adjust to the idea but it will all be ok in the end.
@Jami Everything went better than expected. They said they had an idea. I couldn't be happier. They asked questions and I answered them. I brought all the Donor information with me so they could see everything.
I'm so glad it's Friday!!! Time for some rest this weekend!!
@Jami It will be their 4th. My brother has 3 kids. Its just the two of us, so this will also be their last. There are 2 girls and one boy. My mom and I are both hoping for a boy to even things out. :)
Blood tests came back, showing that I do not have PCOS. Doctor is thinking Clomid has just really messed up my cycle this time without having any effect. She started me on 5mg of Femara today... I am CD23 today. She says there is no signs of my body doing anything and doesn't believe AF will show. So we are doing Femara for 5 days and then I have an ultrasound on Tuesday of next week. Fingers crossed that all this works and we will be able to move forward with this IUI. I took a ClearBlue OPK this morning and still getting a blinking smiley face. I've been getting a blinking smiley face since 10APR.
@Kim So awesome that you parents visit wen better than you expected when you told them the news! It's going to be so hard for me to tell my mom. She is very religious and is against EVERYTHING. She refuses to even acknowledge anything with my life.
@shauna I reacted better to Femara so hope it does the same for you! I definitely understand about being hard to tell your mom. My dad is a pastor so that is why I was nervous. At the end of the day, you're still their child and she will still love you....may not accept it but that's on them. I would say just continue to act as everything is normal...bc it is!! Homosexuality shouldn't be taboo. It's a natural thing! Hang in there!
Update on the little nugget. Went to my first OB appt with my Dr. 10w5d. They took 7 or 8 vials of blood, which I wasn't expecting, but genetic testing is underway! Can't wait to find out what we're having. Based on the heartbeat....it's saying girl. But I REALLY want a boy. Guess we'll find out soon!!
@Shauna I'm glad you don't have PCOS. I had a feeling it wasn't that. You hang in there. I hope this month is your month.
@Kim so exciting. How are you feeling? Any new symptoms? Can't wait to hear. I say boy.
We're doing well. We went away for a long weekend to Maine for our Anniversary. My wife is doing well and we go back next Tuesday. Everything has been quiet here. We don't like waiting so long for visits lol.
@Jami No new symptoms. Still VERY simple over here. Maybe a little more exhausted than before. Glad you guys got away. I need a vacation! But the wifey is on a special project at work and we probably won't get to go on a "babymoon" until August.
I've been going every two weeks but starting now it will be every 4.. it's going to be SO hard to wait
So I went to have my ultrasound done this past Wednesday annnnnd I have one 20mm follicle in my right side! Doc told me to trigger between 9pm-3am that night! So my wife and I triggered at midnight. Today is Friday and we go in for our IUI in less than 4 hours now!! We were so excited for the news. We really had no idea what to expect. But we cannot be any happier with he results! Happy Cinco de Mayo!
