    Hi there, just wanted to wish everyone lots of luck, and ask a question about this process. So, I am 100% going to do this (hopefully in February if all goes well), but wondering exactly how the process works. Got my blood tests done, and just waiting for the HSG which should be this month after I get my period (recently went off the pill so hoping I'm regular). Then Kaiser told me I would come in to have a physical, a vaginal ultrasound, and go over my results. So then what?? Can I have the IUI as soon as I ovulate following the appointment? Is it up to me to tell them when I ovulate, or do they monitor? Just curious. CANNOT wait to do this! I've been wanting a baby for what seems like forever. Feel so much less stressed now that I don't have to look for "Mr. Right". I'm a picky one, and I'd rather do it alone that settle for less than the best. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi everyone (old and new members) hope all are doing well...

    Singlebabymomma, a question for you. My RE concluded that I have ovarian cysts after the utrasound; however, it is not that serious to require any procedure (at least he said so at the time). I wonder if the surgeries that you had were the outpatient ones and how long it took to heal, if any? I just have no ideas about that, could you please let me know?

    Hello Everyone,

    Shine, the cysts that I had were not the normal simple type cysts that you get with your monthly cycle. I was diagnosed each time with mucinous cystadenomas, and had laparoscopic surgeries each time (day surgeries). I was back to work in 2 weeks each time. Did your RE indicate what type of cyst he believes it is? If it is just a simple cyst, they usually just watch it and see if changes, or goes away on its own. I have been dealing with ovarian cysts since I was 16, and have had a total of 3 surgeries as a result. Hope this info was helpful, if you have any other questions feel free to ask, and good luck on this journey!!!

    Thanks Singlebaby for the info. My RE did not say the type of cyst just that there were some and since I did state that my period was not that painful, so I guess that was nothing that serious. Thanks for the info and good luck to you too!!!

    Thanks for your words of encouragement and nice to hear about other's success in this journey, I'll see what happens in the next month!

    Question:
    When one takes clomid is that through a fertility shot or tablets? My dtr recommended fertility shots when my cycle went off one month and I opted to wait the following month to see if it would go back on track and it did!

    Ualtigger: My E.D.D. is 6/1.

    I'm just now starting to feel it move (probably felt it before but wasn't sure, but since it's a daily thing now, I'm going to safely assume that's what it is. It's funny how the books all use the word "fluttering" but that's not how I would describe it. For me it's more like a slight sharp throbbing/poking feeling? @ 18 weeks now and have another ultrasound tuesday to compare growth. Hitting all the clearance racks for cute girl stuff is so much fun. :D

    Hi Everybody!This is my first time posting here. I have been reading all the other posts and can hugely relate. This is a great support system! I have an 11 yr old from my previous marriage and decided to have another as a single mom. I'm in the process of getting my workup and looking forward to starting my IUI in Feb. or March. I had ny HSG and one of my tubes did not spill dye.:( I was like, OMG! I'm still keeping a positive attitude though. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Just had my first IUI and while I've been planning this for a long time and know that I'm making the right choice, there is a part of my mind that went "OMG Am I really doing this?" And while I'm really lucky and everyone that I know is really supportive, I'm just not sure that anyone who isn't doing it can understand. This just seemed like the right place go to.

    hi.... Im 32..and just started all the blood test and happy to say i picked my doner...which i thought that would b the hardest part but it wasnt... my biggest concern right now is the HSG... I know giving birth is painful but its a well worth pain but im more scared of the HSG... PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME "ITS NOT THAT BAD"

    LND... u have to do what makes u happy and dont worry about people might think... this is ur family not thiers! i think the only thing thats driving me nuts about this whole thing is my childs last name but i cant let that stop me from having my baby!

    Hello Ladies! I am the newest member of the group. I am 33 and I was diagnosed with endometriosis 5 years ago. According to my doctor with the progression of my disease and my age I am in a now or never situation. So although "Mr Right" may still be out there my dream of becomeing a mother needs to become a reality soon. I was comforted by the posts I just read from you all and wanted to say thank you for being so open and honest. It makes this a little less scarier for me.

    Emmy, don't worry, my hsg went without a hitch, hardly any pain. I took some ibuprofen, but right before, so it probably didn't do anything. Just relax, the MD will tell you everything he's doing and you get to see it on the screen. Pretty cool! I was out in 20 minutes.

    Ualtigger and sui, Hi, I'm also mid forties, just 44, never tried to get pregnant, but I'm going straight for IVF because statistics are so bad, scared to lose too many months with IUI. Please update as to your progress, good luck and babydust to us!

    Hi there I'm a 41 single girl out of a 5-1/2 year relationship with Mr. Wrong. I suddenly realized I had to act quickly so I am now going through lots of tests, most of which are fine, however I need to have a polyp removed from my uterus before the first IUI attempt. I just wanted to join the group here and let you all know I will be sending good vibes your way for those that are trying. I'm new to this so some of the initials/anacronyms are new to me. Next steps for me are get the polyp removed, colposcopy next week, mammogram in February, and hopefully be able to try in the March cycle although with the polyp removal I may have to wait until April. Sigh, by then I will be 42. I'll need all of the prayers I can get!!

    rlcran_good luck with invitro..had my 1st iui on Friday, we'll see! I will try a few IUIs and that will be it, as a single person, it's challenging this process. I have 3 more vials to use, but had 3 eggs to be fertilized on friday!

    Hello Ladies,
    I'm new to this and am so happy to see that there are other women venturing into single motherhood via IUI/IVF. When I've visited the fertility center I seem to be the only single person. Beginning my diagnostic testing in the am and my HSG is next week. Wish me luck. My best to you all.

    Question: How many vials should I purchase at one time?

    I have never posted before, but I have appreciated reading about other people's experiences. I thought I would share a little about mine now. I am 40 and started looking into this process in September. My doctor recommended an HSG because of a previous abdominal surgery. For those of you getting ready to have one---it wasn't so bad. I had to wait for my doctor to discuss the results with me, and the waiting was the worst part. It tuned out I had clear tubes, but I did have a polyp in my uterus. My doctor removed that at the beginning of December. I went on a cycle of clomid in January and had my insemination on Jan. 29. I took a home test on Valentine's Day---exactly 5 months to the date that I first went to my Dr. in Sept., and it was positive. I had a blood test yesterday and received the official word from my doctor's today that I am pregnant. I just wanted to give some encouragement to those of you who maybe have to go through some tests, procedures, or are slightly older. It worked for me on my very first time after having the HSG and polyp surgery and despite my age. I wish everybody wonderful luck.

    ok i guess its my turn to vent!!! i was supposed to go for my hsg test today and do my first iui next week.... i wake up to a phone call telling me my app is canceled due to the snow storm and to call monday to make another app!!!! ggggrrrr i make plans for my future and god laughs at me ;(
    im probably going to have to wait to do my iui next cycle.... im not happy

    I can imagine the disappointment with the cancellation and the probability of having to wait til your next cycle. That happened to me back in Nov. Mother nature does play an impt role when it comes to weather and our cycles and unfortunately, she has control, not us. Hope everything went wel lwith scheduling. Good thoughts to you!
