    My wife & I recently switched clinics and did our 4th IUI with 2 follicles at 30 & 32. Borderline thin lining. Our previous RE told us that if we didn't get pregnant within 3 rounds, IUI wasn't likely to be successful. Our new RE said that statistic is only applicable to couples using IUI therapy for infertility. I'm 30, all tests normal, normal weight and active, but am getting so discouraged. We went into the new RE's office wanting IVF (we have insurance coverage) and we were denied due to age and no know infertility problems, but after 3 ICI's with 1 chemical and 3 IUI's, I would think we would have seen something by now. They also told 32 & 30 were "perfect" folic sizes, but that seems huge. I don't know what to think. Both RE's felt that doing back to back IUI's were of little value, but significantly more cost. Any thoughts? I'm losing heart, and am a labor & delivery nurse going to midwifery school so that's been hard on my soul. The internet & MD's give so much conflicting information. Share with me what y'all have heard please! And wish us luck! This is no easy road and I wish you all so much baby dust & love :)

    Hi 2Wishfulmommies - any news? 30 & 32 seem huge to me, but I've only done this twice! Did you use medication? Mine was only 19 and my RE was happy with it, but now I'm not so sure!!
    If you had a chemical after an ici, its probably not you that's the problem - maybe the timing? My RE does 2 back to back - I know people say its of no value but certainly this time she was very positive after the first, then took blood again and wanted to do it again the next day just to make sure. I guess when the iui is our only contact with sperm, in my mind it does up the chances a bit when you give the egg 2 chances rather than one, but that's just me! After all, a straight couple might have sex a ton of times around ovulation to make sure!

    Anyway - are you in the TWW now? How many days are you? FX for you!

    They are now the only RE clinic in town now, so we're a little stuck. Hate hearing how "normal" I am, but to be healthy and relatively young, it drives me nutty for it to take so long. 14dpiui and it was negative this morning. On to the next round for us I guess :(. Seems like insanity.

    Hey Julie! Are you back in the tww now? I know you,said you were planning to try this month. Our ovulation kit turned positive today, so tomorrow is our IUI. Finger crossed!

    So, we had the iui on Friday! Now we are back in the TWW, 3dpiui...and a long time to go!

    Julie, are you guys planning to test before 14dpiui blood work? Or just wait? We will definitely test before, maybe day 12.

    2wishfulmommies, did AF show up yet? I am hoping you just had a delayed BFP!

    Hi Rebecca, today is day 12 for me and I tested this morning - BFN :-( Will keep testing as I didn't get a positive till day 14 last time, but I feel a bit like AF is around the corner, so not feeling too hopeful this time. My RE doesn't do blood work till I have missed a period and tested positive at home so if I do get blood work, it's likely not till next week.
    FX for you - I hope this is your month and no more of this stress!! Baby Dust!!

    Hey Julie! Stay positive! I am sending happy,thoughts and BFP wishes. Maybe day 14 will be your lucky day again...and if not, there is always next month.

    We are now 5dpo, and other than a little lower back pain, Imdont feel much of anything. But trying to stay positive too!

    2wishfulmommies - any news? 14 days isn't the end of the road until AF shows up.

    Rebecca - Very faint line this morning, I'm hoping it darkens! Not used my digital ones yet as I just have the clear blue 'pregnant or not pregnant' ones which require a higher HCG then my FRERs. I'm really developing a pee on stick problem, I did a wondfo this morning also haha! Faint line on that too :-)

    Yay! Julie that is awesome! You are lucky on day 14 again! My fingers a crossed for a progressively darker line! And soon enough, a positive on a digital! Peeing on a stick is addictive!

    Tomorrow is one week for us and I am dying to POAS, but I know it will be pointless!

    HI there - very new to the boards and the process. Got my first positive on the OPK and first IUI (natural cycle) is tomorrow. Not really sure what to expect after that - other than waiting to see if it sticks right!?

    Unfortunately, AF reared her ugly head. After a lengthy discussion with our RE regarding IUI with injectables vs. IVF, we decided to proceed to IVF. Guess the multiple risk is rather high for a 30 year old on injectables and as a L & D nurse, I know the risks to mama & baby. Not worth it! I hope we made the right decision and that my wife and I get a healthy baby out of all of it. So expensive and strange to be on birth control for IVF prep! Good luck ladies! I wish all of you baby dust and healthy pregnancies! What an emotional journey this all is! Seems like as women in same sex relationships trying to become mamas, were bound to feel isolated...at least where we live! So thankful these boards exist to make us feel a little less insane!

    Hello 2WishfulMommies!

    You are not alone. Yesterday was my egg retrieval & we got 23 eggs. Waiting for the call today to find out how many were fertilized by Donor #14081. It is kinda hectic to take OCPs, have your period, get 1st sonogram while on your period and begin on all the injections. I was not irritable but quite emotional....mainly crying at any little thing. Missing days from work becomes hard too because of the sonograms. Now the embryo transfer is on Monday 09/28. Excited & nervous. Knowi g the TWW will be torture. Best of luck, many blessings & please don't give up. Will keep you posted.

    Hi Rebecca - how are you holding up? Heavy spotting for me today, so I'm figuring AF is here (The line didn't darken) so on to the next cycle for me. We now have a known issue with our donor carrying a condition (Which wouldn't manifest as anything unless I carry it too) so we have decided to exchange the vials for another donor. It has been pointed out that any of the donors could carry the same thing or anything else since they don't test for it as standard, but it just feels wrong to knowingly use it and give our potential child a good chance of being a carrier too. So maybe a BFN this month is a blessing in disguise and we can move on to the new donor. (We didn't find out about the issue until we were 12dpiui - so that was stressful to say the least!!)

    Hi Mommies & 2wishfulmommies - you are definitely not alone! It is a very isolating experience, I can only imagine how much worse it is when you do ivf with all the hormones, it was hard enough going for bloods and sonograms etc for just the iui! FX for you and lots of baby dust for those little nuggets to settle in for a 9 month stay!

    Loving Nest Mommies & prbs2002, my best wishes to you both. Seems ridiculous to be on birth control pills. Loving Nest Mommies, did you do stims over 1 or 2 weeks and how often did you have to have ultrasounds? I am a nurse and I think I will just have to be put on office duty with the monitoring schedule. Did you have insurance coverage? Feel free to decline to answer. I'm just anxious that since we have only done 4 ICIs and 4 IUIs, they won't approve us for IVF despite coverage. Not a real way to "prove" you've been trying.

    Hey Julie! You are being so positive in all of this, especially acknowledging your blessing in disguise. I truly believe that positivity will lead to a BFP with a super sticky baby soon! Good luck selecting a new donor...that can be pretty overwhelming in itself! Keep us updated!

    No news for us yet... 11dpiui... Such a long 2 weeks.

    Hey Rebecca - they TWW must be almost over! Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Have you tested yet?

    We have chosen a new donor and filled out all the forms for the exchange, the staff have been great and so helpful, we actually chose the donor this time REALLY fast! I pondered over the list for ages, passed it to my wife when she got home from work and she chose 'the one" in about 10 minutes flat!! It will probably be another 10 days or so before I ovulate, so that gives plenty of time for the donor switch plus shipping some vials to NYC where we live.

    Loving Nest Mommies - did you do your transfer? How are things?
    2wishfulmommies - how are you doing? What's happening for you now? This waiting is a killer!!

    We met with our RE and the ticket price was crazy for IVF, but we're going for it! We're likely doing a single embryo transfer. Seems like we're good candidates! Finally, a gauge full of hope but an empty account :(. All worth it I think! Not like adoption would likely be any cheaper! LNM is keeping us in suspense! Thanks for your support! Long road, but we'll all make it!

    2wishfulmommies - that's great! (Not the empty bank though!). At least IVF means you pretty much know you are using a healthy viable embryo and will be monitored as implantation happens, so it cuts out a lot of the early issues. Hearing these stories of all the brave couples going through IVF makes me wonder if that is a journey we will choose if we need it. I think by the time you get to this stage you are so invested it's probably inevitable if the financial resources are in any way available. I wish you so much luck and baby dust. When do you start the process?

    Thanks for much! We're doing retrieval the end of November if everything works out. Waiting for our prior-auth to go through knowing we should have coverage for some of it, but I'm still terrified. In the end, it's only money and we are so blessed that we are both able bodied worker bees that love what we do. We can always work extra. My therapist said I just had to resolve to the cost and in the end, we could do another 4 IUI's and be in the same boat and out another 5-8K. There are no guarantees, which is hard for my type A personality. We will all make it through with the support of each other!

    Looks like we are out for this month :( Negative tests, but still no period. Now another waiting game.

    I was really hoping it would happen for us, but honestly didn't feel like the timing was quite right. So I guess we will try again next month. We are definitely considering using meds this time. We only have 2 more tries with our donor, who was also the donor for our daughter...so we really want it to work!

    2wishfulmommies...best of luck with IVF. I know a couple people who have been unsuccessful with IUI and had healthy pregnancy and babies after 1 round of IVF. Best wishes!

    Rebecca, so sorry its a BFN this month (still hoping for you though) I hear you re the meds. We will do another unmedicated round this month as it is the first time with the new donor, but I'm thinking of asking my RE about progesterone as I feel like I am actually conceiving but not implanting successfully, so we will see how that goes. keep me posted re what you decide, keeping everything crossed for you as always! I see Courtney is expecting a little girl - so happy for her!

    2wishfulmommies - you have a wonderful attitude, I am sure all the positivity will pay off! Keeping my fingers crossed for you, now for all the drugs and ultrasounds before your November retrieval (all the fun!!)

    Hey everyone!

    Sorry to have dissapeared on you all. Transfer went well on Monday 09/28. Felt really bloated & sensitive nipples for days. Still sentimental and tortured by the 2WW. Rested for 2 days & then back to work...feel guilty cuz I have 2 jobs that are very demanding & I am sure I am not resting as I should but I am a physician & it's damn near impossible.....can't sleep tonight deciding on whether to do HPT or not...
    So, just to answer done of the questions...I have PCOS...irregular...but with 1 month of OCPs I was set...got my period on time...had 6 sonograms (very frustrating). Felt like my ovaries were gonna burst. Did the retrieval on day 14. Insurance only paid 5 sonograms. Had to pay the 6th. I used Bravelle & Menopur...Now on Crinone & Vivelle. Got my estradiol levels checked on Oct 5 & at 330 which apparently is good enough (has to be above 200) in order to maintain the uterus lining nice & fluffy for the embies....transferred 2. Got a letter yesterday that 10 embies were frozen...hoping not to need them. Get blood pregnancy test on Monday 10/12. Wishing you all the best & thanks for posting.

    Hi ladies. Nice to meet you all and read your stories. Makes me feel less alone.

    2WW ends Friday at 7:15 but I have so many signs of my period coming tomorrow, I'm pretty sure I'll get a BFN.

    Luckily my wife and I found a donor on THIS website (first one was thru Xytex) that I really like! So it's not the end of the world.

    I have my fingers crossed for all of you! Good luck LNM! Sounds like your journey will be a lot like ours. We're both in healthcare too, and resting is impossible. I'm hoping we'll still have luck. Read a study on up to date that said bedrest actually worsened clinical pregnancy rates. Hoping it's true!

    Hey ladies! Took an ept digital HPT and got an awesome Pregnant screen. Super excited but still have to wait for Monday to get the labs & "the call". Already got one patient to ask if I was pregnant & my favorite auntie calling me up to tell me she dreamt of me (pregnant) when she did not even know I was doing the IVF. Lol. We'll see....
    2WM: I certainly hope that study is true cuz I am definitely not resting as much as all the online stuff says...blessings to you and keep in touch during this upcoming IVF process.
