  • JB...CONGRATS ON TWINS! I am so happy for you! That is great news! Keep us updated. As of right now, 5 weeks 4 days, my bloodworm has all come back good. Ultrasound next Wednesday...fingers crossed that all goes well!

Sammy...I am, sending you baby dust! Try to relax and keep your mind off of it!

tfahnestock, sorry to hear that! Wishing you lots of luck for the next time around!

    Jagger, any updates?
  • Thanks @pols12. I will take all the baby dust I can get right now.
  • Thanks pols. We found out today at our 7 week ultrasound that it's possible one of the babies will be a vanishing twin. I feel so sad. The doctor said the sac is on the smaller side, but the baby has a strong heartbeat and is measuring at a normal size. We are trying to stay hopeful. The other baby is growing at a normal rate and has a strong heartbeat, too. All I can do is stay hopeful. I hope we get both of our babies. Send positive thoughts for us. We need them. We see the obgyn on Sunday. We will know more then.

So glad to hear you're doing well pols. Keep me updated!
  • JB,

I hope all went well yesterday! Sending positive thoughts for two healthy babies your way!

Our first ultrasound is on Wednesday, fingers crossed all goes well!

    Keep me updated!

    Rebecca
  • We went to the doctor and we now have to switch doctors. Because we are potentially having twins and my wife is over 35 we are considered a "high risk" pregnancy. We have a scheduled appointment with obgyn in a week, but we see our fertility doctor on Thursday. We will know more than. Hope all goes well Pols! Let's know how it goes! Sending you lots of baby dust!
  • JB, good luck with everything. Isn't is ridiculous that you are considered high risk just because you are over 35. I'm 36 and can't believe I'm suddenly 'geriatric'!! So outdated. Anyways, good luck with the babies, hope both are healthy and stick in there.

Rebecca - I'm looking at my 2nd iui in August just because I have to travel a number of times in the next couple of months and don't want to do that straight after insemination. Just wondering - when you conceived your DD, did you go for insemination as soon as you had your clearblue surge? Did you do one single insemination or 2 back to back? Our Dr likes to do 2, but I only have 3 vials left and feel reluctant to use them up like that if its not necessary. Sorry for all the questions, its just good to hear someone else's success story. How are things with your pregnancy now? I hope all is well and can't wait to hear how it goes in the future!

  • Geriatric...me too...and I still get carded at the bar...what a laugh!

JB, I hope you find a good doctor who can take care of those babies! Thinking of you!

Julie, it is good to hear from you! I am glad to know you will have time to travel...hopefully it is for pleasure and not business. With my DD, I had my IUI about 22 hours after I got my Smiley Face on the CBE Ovulation Kit. So, we did a test month, where I used the kit to monitor ovulation and then had an ultrasound and bloodwork to confirm ovulation. That helped with a tentative schedule for the next month. It was also helpful that my body is very regular and I was pretty aware of when I usually ovulate. Just like clockwork, on day 17 of my cycle, I got my smiley surge, we set the appt for the next morning. As I was getting ready for he appt I was pretty sure I ovulated. When we got to the doctors, I told him I thought I had ovulated about 1 hour before, which he said was perfect. He did the IUI and then checked via internal ultrasound with no gel, that I had indeed ovulated.

We only have done 1 IUI per cycle, both with DD and this time as well. I know some people who do 2, but most of my friends have only done 1, even if their doc suggested otherwise. It is your money/commitment. You need to do what you and your wife think is best. Our best friends were recently trying for their 2nd child, and we're left with only 2 vials. Their doc wanted them to use both, but their donor is no longer available and they wanted to be conservative. Against the docs suggestion, they only used one...and are now 11 weeks pregnant! I say, go with your gut!

As for us, I have been feel pretty tired and frequent quesiness! Which are all good things in my book...no complaining here! First ultrasound, finally, tomorrow. Fingers crossed that all goes well!

Keep me updated on what you decide and how everything is going! Baby dust and positive wishes!

    Rebecca
  • Thanks for the info Rebecca. I used the CBE ovulation kit too last time and like you, I know my body pretty well as I've been checking my ovulation timing for a few months now. I actually used it first thing in the morning and it was negative, then around 11am I just knew I had ovulated and tested again and it was a smiley face! They took me in and did the ultrasound and bloods immediately and inseminated later that day, then again the following morning. Obviously it did indeed work (although who knows on which insemination!) so I am super hopeful it will work again, but I have been keeping an eye on our chosen donor and he is still empty so I need to be cautious with those 3 vials!
I'm off to Scotland to visit family, which is pleasure but hard work too!! I have to take my 13 year old son there to visit my parents and its a long flight so although technically I could go for an insemination in July, I'd be worried with the long flight, so we figured it would be better all round just to wait it out until August (but it's killing me, I want to do it NOW!!)
Again, Thanks for all the info, I'm so happy things are going well for you, here's to a healthy happy pregnancy!

  • Hey all.

Unfortunately our ultrasound this week did not go well. It appears as though I have a blighted ovum, basically an empty gestational sac. We are having a second ultrasound on Monday to get a second look, but we have both pretty much resigned ourselves to the fact that is pregnancy will not result in a child for us. We also need to decide if we want to wait for the miscarriage to happen naturally or via D&C. We can barely believe what is happening, nevertheless attempt to make such an important decision.

Thankfully, we are so blessed to have our sweet DD, who will be our saving grace through this process.

Best of luck and baby dust to all of you!

    Rebecca
  • This is our 3rd and possibly final IUI! The wait is intense! I think the timing was perfect this time and we used 13765 and he had an excellent sample. Fingers crossed!
  • When did you if ever get your positive hpt I am 12dpiui. I completely feel AF coming I'm like 99.9 percent sure it will be here by the morning it was supposed to be here today. I took two hpt 9dpiui and 11dpiui yesterday all not pregnant. Is there any hope I don't feel that there is. I already started planning my ivf cycle I really wanted this iui to work the most out of all of them.
  • Sammy, mine was negative right up until the full 2 weeks had past then positive on the 14th day.
  • Well my AF arrived full force today. It's over to ivf now and it's my last chance so I'm hoping for first time ivf miracle. This has to work.
  • Rebecca,
I'm so so so sorry. I can't imagine the pain you must be feeling. Sending you healing thoughts and thankful you have your dd to focus on. Lots of love, JB
  • Thanks JB! I just had a D&C yesterday. I feel fine physically, but emotionally, I still have a lot of healing to do! I appreciate your thoughts.

How are things going with you guys? Do you like your new doctor? Is everything on track? Keep me updated!

    Rebecca
  • Rebecca, I'm so sorry! That's horrible for you both. I hope you have time to rest and recover over the next weeks. Thinking of you,
    Julie
  • BFN for us too. Maybe 1 more IUI with injectables vs. IVF. Switching clinics because I think only 1 of the 3 were appropriately timed. Any advice anyone?
  • Hi Rebecca,
We just had our first prenatal and both babies are doing great! In the beginning one of our baby's sacs was on the smaller side but has since caught up. We are considered "high risk" because of my wife's age and because it's a twin pregnancy. The docs will have a closer watch on the pregnancy. Everything is progressing as it should, keeping our hearts and minds positive and thankful. Hope you're healing process is going strong. You've been in my thoughts!
  • Congrats jb323! Best of luck for healthy babies!
  • Just wanted to update that all is going really well with the pregnancy. Both babies are strong and growing at a good pace. And we found out we are having a boy and a girl! So excited:) Spreading the luck out! Due date January 21st!
  • Since this post is so positive and lucky I am going to join in, in hopes for the positivity to rub off on us! We are in our tww day 5.... Fingers crossed!
  • Well, this is out second round. I hope to get some luck from this thread. Seems like everyone on it got a BFP! Our first donor only has 6 million and the second one had 12. So we are hoping that helps.

Today starts out TWW! Got crazy with it last month, won't do that again.
Good luck to everyone out there on their TWW.
  • Getting our first IUI next week and soon anxious. so happy to read everybody's great news! congrats ladies... can't wait to start this process in 4 days...then the dreadful TWW...so nervous

  • TWW Number 2 starts for us today! Excited and nervous, RE very positive so keeping my fingers crossed and awaiting blood results to see if we get a second iui tomorrow :-)

How's everyone doing? Pols are you trying again this month?
  • First iui unsuccessful. Hoping to start meds for the next one in a few days. Could really use some positive encouragement. Not sure how many more times if any we can do this.
  • Second iui this morning, RE thinks everything looks good, now to just wait!
Katie, sorry your iui was unsuccessful, fingers crossed for your next one? Are you doing singles or back to backs? They do generally suggest around 6 attempts before worrying about anything, I guess we need to give our bodies a chance, but I get that it is really frustrating and we invest so much (financial/ emotional/ physically) into this process.
  • Katie - sorry about all the ??? Those were supposed to be !! and :-) - Thanks predictive text!
  • My wife had a rise in body temperature today she is 6dpo and temp has been reg 98.6 today it's 99.0?! hope this is a good sign!!
  • My wife & I recently switched clinics and did our 4th IUI with 2 follicles at 30 & 32. Borderline thin lining. Our previous RE told us that if we didn't get pregnant within 3 rounds, IUI wasn't likely to be successful. Our new RE said that statistic is only applicable to couples using therapy for infertility. I'm 30, all tests normal, normal weight and active, but am getting so discouraged. We went into the new RE's office wanting IVF (we have insurance coverage) and we were denies due to age and no know infertility problems, but after 3 ICI's with 1 chemical and 3 IUI's, we would have had something. They also told 32 & 30 were "perfect" folic sizes, but that seems huge. I don't know what to think. Both RE's felt that doing back to back IUI's were of little value, but significantly more cost. Any thoughts? I'm losing heart, and am a labor & delivery nurse going to midwifery school so that's been hard on my soul.
