  • Good luck Cari!! I love your wife's attitude. We all need reminded of this every so often. Those are great numbers, FX this is your month!! We need some BFPs from those of use who have been waiting for so long or we need another TWW thread soon!!

  • prbs2002 yes, I used donor 14085, there's one other person who I've been talking to on one of the FB pages who also used him and they are like 23 weeks pregnant right now. Good luck!
  • prbs2002 thank you! so far took two beta tests and numbers are great, Monday 1100 Wednesday jumped to 4800. Good luck!

If any of you are in or near LA, I went to a place in Glendale, CA Care Fertility. A few of my friends have gone and it's been great, they have all had BFP. The staff is amazing and the prices aren't that bad. My insurance covered all the tests and it would have covered the IUI and IVF but since we didn't want to tap into the insurance benefits just yet in case the IUI didn't work I paid out of pocket and it was very reasonable.
  • Elliejo, good luck and lots of baby dust to you! Sending lots of positive vibes your way!
  • Scarlett2780 good luck!!
  • Congrats Valerie!! So happy for you. Now I want to move to Glendale!! Actually I loved Glendale when i was there years ago, so pretty and the mall with the Cheesecake factory and musical fountain was super fun!
We are between 14085 and 13963 right now, they are both so cute!
  • Hey Julie - I am honestly so bummed out! I really thought this was going to be your time! This process is so draining. I hope you are keeping positive. Just know that I am thinking about you! A new donor may be just what you need.

Good luck Cari! Those follicles sound great!

    Baby dust to everyone!

    Rebecca
  • Thanks Rebecca, it is so disappointing - again. I wonder why neither of us can catch a break after the first time? On to the next one, we are going to try in July with a new donor and see where that takes us, the IVF conversation can wait for the end of the summer. when we first set out my wife desperately wanted a baby, I was happy to go along as I have a son who is 14, but the more cycles we miss, the more procedures we go through, the harder it is! I probably want it even more than she does now and it frustrates me so much!

Keep us updated with where you are with your decisions and progress Rebecca, it's good to hear from you.
Livvy, how are things with you?

    Julie
  • Random question to you all - I have one vial left of our current donor. It's at my RE so I cant swap it or sell it back... do you think it would be AWFUL to use it plus a new donor and let them fight it out over 2 back to back insems?? Obviously I've just had my first beer in 2 weeks..... ;-)
  • Hey all we just Inseminsted. Numbers looked good 15.1 mil with 50% motility. Our nurse was 7 months pregnant so we are hoping she has some lucky ju ju for us. Kind of crazy she got a couple pregnAnt with quads. They had two follicles then both eggs split. I couldn't imagine four at once. We are very hopeful the stars are aligning for us and this is lucky #4! Now to the TWW. Lots of pineapple in our house. I appreciate all the support from everyone during this journey.
  • I never thought 2 weeks could go by SO slowly!!!
I've started having some cramping and pelvic pressure. Nothing too bad but seems too early to be AF cramping. I've also been very gassy and constipated this week... (TMI..... sorry). Other than that, I'm symptom-less.
I'll probably test on Tuesday or Wednesday. Here's hoping the weekend goes by fast and AF stays away!!
  • Oh! And chapped lips.....idk of that's any type of sign. But I have always used chapstick to keep my lips moisturized and the past week or so they have been super super dry. Weird
  • Good luck Cari!!! Here's hoping there's lots of busy work going on in there!!
Almost there firsttime - hoping you get a BFP soon!

We have decided to keep our one vial in storage with out RE and get 2 new vials of a new donor for July. Maybe we can use the one vial if we end up going down the road of IVF in the future! Torn between 2 donors right now, but it's a good distraction.
  • Good morning everyone! We had our second IUI yesterday. FX this is the one. My trigger shot has caused some major cramping (more so than last time) and odd feelin abdominal pressure yesterday after the IUI, so I'm hoping that's a good sign, plus we switched donors, which she said the count / motility was better than the last donor. We will see .... These two weeks are gonna creep by.

Elliejo - looks like we are on the same schedule! Lol! Good luck to you - lots of baby dust to everyone!!
  • Scarlett we can keep each other sane!!! Our pregnancy bloodwork is scheduled for the 6th. It's so far away. How does your re do it? Test at home then go in or just go in?
  • Hey ladies-excited for all of you in the 2ww and wishing you lots of luck. Julie, I am SUPER hopeful that the July IUI works for you. My goodness, you have waited long enough! But if not, you can get on the IVF train with me and Rebecca.

My wife and I are doing IVF most likely in September, but I was told it would be covered by insurance when I spoke to Carefirst and I got a letter from Shady Grove Fertility saying that actually it will NOT be. Husband clause. I think my wife is going to really try to fight it, but I feel a bit hopeless.

We are lucky in that we can probably make the $22K work by going on a payment plan, but damn, it irks me that if I had a husband, this would be COVERED by my insurance plan :(

I hope someday this is a non issue for lesbian and single moms by choice everywhere.
  • Elliejo our RE told us not to test until 7/08/16, last time we just did an at home and then went ahead and confirmed with the ordered blood work. But, of course, AF confirmed the very next day after the blood work. But I needed the blood work anyway because he ordered a progesterone level as well. I have to take progesterone right now because my levels are on the low side of normal and oh how I hate the progesterone .... It makes me feel like a slug! But if the end result is a child then I don't care :)
  • So we've been testing out the trigger since day 3piui... yesterday's hpt appeared negative finally and this morning there was a shadow of a line on the hpt. We went out and bought Clearblue digital and it came up pregnant 1-2 weeks pretty quickly. Called the fertility clinic to ask for a blood test and they said to come in right away. On the drive over, they called back and said not to come in because it was too soon (we are 11 days post trigger and 9 days post iui). My partner said we tested out the trigger... whoever called sounded a little annoyed but had us come in anyway. The lab person also said it's too early and any number we get for the beta won't mean anything until we do a follow up beta in 2 days. So we're now feeling a little deflated after being so hopeful. Maybe my partner and I are just being too neurotic. Sigh. Still waiting for the call on the results.
  • Beta test in... hcg of 5 and progesterone of 13. Lab tech said it's a positive but I know the numbers are very low and it's early. We test again Wednesday so keeping my fingers crossed that the numbers go up and it's not the trigger! Good luck everyone!
  • Just took a test.....BFN. BUT no AF yet so just need to see how the next few days go.
  • I'm driving myself crazy waiting and I have over a week til we test. Ugh!!! Need ideas for both of us to occupy our time. Heading to a TTC support group tonight for lesbians. I'm hoping it's great and we can get some support in this TWW which is killing me.
  • I totally understand how you feel! I have been so melancholy the last two days, I am so fearful of another BFN. I just wish I could test today. I realize that this is only our second try and that there are a lot of people who have been trying for a lot longer but it's so hard to stay sensible and look at things the way you're suppose to.
  • Livvy - I am so sorry to hear that your IVF won't be covered. What state do you live in? In MD, it is required by law for insurance companies to offer the same coverage to all married couples, heterosexual or homosexual. Try to check to see if your state has any such mandate. It is so ridiculous!
  • I just wanted to add for all you ladies doing early testing- our first beta was 5 yesterday, and First Response, Clearblue Plus, and Clearblue digital all tested positive. So those hpts are extremely sensitive. And an update- tested again today at 10dpiui and the line on the FRER is a little darker! Hoping for good news tomorrow and good luck to all the ladies in their tww!
  • Also wanted to add that IVF is covered in Hawaii. My partner it the one TTC and when we went for her HSG one tube was blocked. That coupled with her age (41.5) qualified her to be covered for IVF. We decided to do IUI while we waited for the insurance to respond.
  • Livvy, I am appalled by that! Surely with marriage equality they can't discriminate in that way?

Cari, I'm glad you found a support group, this is definitely one of the most isolating things in the world. No one can really understand what we go through in any of it unless they are also going through it.
I hope this is your month and you don't need to go through a TWW again!!

Scarlett - good luck, keeping everything crossed for you!!

makeababy - congrats! Good to know re the tests.

We decided on our new donor last night, I started Clomid yesterday day 4-8. I ordered 2 vials today and have them going to my RE next week.

Any of you lovely ladies got any advice on iui timing? Normally we do 2, but I'm driving myself nuts thinking that they do the first one too soon, so the sperm is dead by the time I ovulate, then they do the second one too late, so we've lost the egg by the time they insem again. Probably I'm just going mad, but it would make me feel much better if I could at least pretend to myself that I have a plan!!
  • Julie-you are right, if we are able to LEGALLY and federally be married, why do we not get insurance coverage for IVF? And it's not like that was our first stop--I had 7 IUIs first!

My clinic told me to contact HR for my employer (I work for a mammoth employer so we'll see), and I did, and I will see if I can get some kinda break. But probably not:(

Rebecca, I WISH I lived/worked in MD! I work in VA so I think VA law mandates what coverage I get.

I do feel lucky, if not confused, as to why IUI was covered...
  • Prbs, when we did two IUIs I always thought the first was too early too. We always did it the morning after the trigger. I thought that was way too early and then one the following day. We just trusted the doctors knew best because they have gotten people pregnant before. I did read though that sperm could last up to five days. So I think you are safe. I am not sure how long an egg lasts.

The support group was definitely helpful. If anyone is in the Chicago area I highly recommend it. Not sure where everyone is from. It was good to talk to other live humans. You guys are awesome but we were in a room of real people going through this. My wife who was skeptical of going talked a bit. It was nice. We both feel like we were heard and not quite alone. We will be going back next month.

We are hoping we got our timing down. Our IUI was Friday morning and Abby ovulated between Friday night and Saturday morning. Weirdly with the climid she could actually feel it. I know some of you have expressed you can do that. I am hopeful this is our time. But we will see. Abby struggles with an anxiety disorder which is a challenge so it has been a bit difficult for her to remain calm and zen without her typical meds. I hope she can. I am trying to stay hopeful. She is at the doc now getting bloodwork for her progesterone check. Pregnancy test in a week. I am trying to convince her to take one at home first before going to the doctor but she is resisting. I'd like to know one way or the other before I go to work instead of getting sad face texts if it is a BFN.

I am encouraged by the surge of BFPs. I am hoping more to come! We've got this ladies. Hoping for good timing for everyone and those spermies meet the eggs.

  • So my wife's blood work just came back for her one week post iui for progesterone. We are not sure what it means. Our doctor said you need a 2 or 3 to demonstrate ovulation. He likes the level to be in the 10-15 range. Ours is 37. We have never had anything higher then a 14. So this is very high for us. I am not sure if that means optimal conditions for pregnancy or anything. I don't want to get my hopes up. Has anyone had that high for their progesterone and not gotten pregnant? Help...I just don't want to misread and then get disappointed.
  • It's official! Beta at 11dpiui of 22! It more than quadrupled in 48 hours! We're pregnant!!! One more beta Friday and then Wednesday due to work conflicts. Baby dust to all!
