Any Single Mothers starting IUI/ICI in October?

I'm a single 30yr old in the military that has decided to conduct my first IUI in October. I'm using this month to time my ovulation and hoping to have success on my first try next month. Is there anyone starting their journey next month as well?

  • My first appointment is in October. I've been tracking my periods and ovulation for a while now...so I'm hoping to try immediately.

    Good luck :)
  • I'm trying to time my ovulation this month and hopefully have my first attempt next month. I'm using those ovulation strips and I hope they work for me. I know some women say they don't work for them.

Good luck to you as well..
  • The Clearblue Digital ovulation monitor is amazing...works much better than the cheapie strips. It's a little pricey, but worth it...you can find it on Amazon.com.
  • SeattleSuz, Thanks, but I'm already on CD9 so hoping to get a + soon. Should it not work i'll try using the clearblue next month.
  • I'm a single 35yr old, and I will have my first iui the first week in October!! Exciting time!! Good luck!!!
  • After using my ovulation test strips I got positives in CD13 & 14, so I'll be attempting my first ICI around the second week in Oct.

    Good luck Sasha95...
  • I'm 39 and finally decided to do it myself! I hit the fertility clinic October 3rd but have done all my testing and ovulation tracking soni am hoping for go time in mid October. I'm so excited and weirdly not nervous. Good luck gals!!!
  • I should be mid Oct as well. Will you be conducting ICI yourself? What all do you have to conduct it at home.
  • Hi Jen -
I am in ARMY Mday...starting in october as well...Im hoping that my fitness levels compliments of our government will help in the process ;) I am 38...
  • I'm in the services as well, Navy. So I need to get this process started and be ready to rotate at my next PRD.

    Good Luck..
  • I totally understand!! Mine is a five month deployment next September...
The hardest part of the military is the pressure of the schedules... I know that my decision to continue is a VERY hard one... I am praying for a pregnancy on the first time! Amen...
  • I am now praying for you too NAVY sister ;) AMEN!!!! Keep me posted!
  • Did you choose your sperm donor? How did you decide? OMG!
  • Thanks....My prays go out to you as well. I am praying I can conceive on the first try as well.

I'm going with an ICI donor, 13077 I think will be my choice. The reason I'm going with ICI is because if my ovulation kit give me a positive on a Friday afternoon I may have to inseminate it myself over the weekend cause OB/GYN is not available around here come weekend. If it falls during the week my doc can do it for me. This month I got a positive result on ovulation on a Saturday so I'm guessing I would have to inseminate on a Sunday.

I'm hoping this works first try due to fact I just turned 30 with no known isssues.
  • On the donor decision part I wanted someone tall with no inherited medical issues. I hoping my genes with theirs can make the perfect child lol...
  • I had my day 2 U/S today!! All went well ovaries look good. I start my day 3-7 letrozole tmr!
  • HI everyone!! I am on my 4th try :( but am going to try the next IUI in October or early November as well (saving for the meds) I am so happy to see so many single women who want children doing this!! I'll pray for you all!!! lots of baby dust
  • Hey PKaren,

Welcome! Were you trying with ICI before? I'm going to attempt my first try with ICI. I'm hoping it works since I just turned 30.
  • My first appointment is next Friday. I am trying to narrow my donor down over the next week as well. I'm hoping that once I leave my first appointment I'll have my donor decision made and will be ready for my first try mid October. Fingers staying cross and tons of prayers being sent up...I need lots of baby dust.

Good luck to everyone trying. I hope we all have positive results to share soon!!!
  • I have my appointment with Doc next week Thursday and picking my method of insemination will be bases on whether or not I can get inseminated during the week or not. If I go with IUI an get a positive on ovulation test on Friday I will be screwed because the Doc's here arent available on weekends. I'm leaning towards just going with ICI so either way if it boils down to it I can inseminate it myself.

Last month was first month tracking my ovulation and I got a positive on a Saturday so I'm guessing I'll get a positive on Friday this month. Anyone have experience with the ovulation kits to share, on when to test, how often and so forth?
  • I use the clear blue easy fertility monitor and it is very accurate and my RE recommended it. Hopefully it will work for me!! I go for my ultrasound tomorrow to measure my follicles to see it I'm ready to trigger!!
  • I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.
  • I'm on CD1 today and starting Clomid soon. Doc says to start Clomid CD5-9 but after reading a few post I think I want to start on CD3-5. Is anyone using clomid? If so which days and why?
  • I just used clomid on cd 5-9. I am currently on cd 15 and no sign of ovulation yet. Just getting ready to test again but I'm pretty sure the clomid messed my cycle up and I won't be ovulating for another week... :(

My doctor wanted me to do cd 3-7 but I was out of town so had to do 5-7. After what I have read I understand the difference is this. CD 3-7 produces MORE and CD 5-9 produces MATURITY.

    Hope that helps!
  • yep, still no surge. ugh!!!
  • Thanks 21tdd. I hope you get a positive on your ovulation soon.

My doc gave me the clomid in Aug to use in Sept but instead I used Sept as a track ovulation month and didn't use the clomid but I guess I should have.

I'm guessing I should use it 3-7 just to keep my ovulation close to what last month was, which was CD13. I want to have my vial delievered on CD12.
  • From everything I have read about clomid, I can find no consistency. Some women are not affected and they "O" right on time where others are pushed back significantly. I'm starting to think that all this thinking and reading and testing and waiting and planning just really can mess with a girls cycle!

Couldn't it just be a little easier and like maybe have a button that we push and say "GO" when we are ready? ;)
  • LOL, I know what you mean. Every time I think I have one thing figured out there is something else I'm researching confusing me even more lol. I'm on CD1 now and going to go with CD3-7 on clomid. Have my stuff delivered on CD12 and go from there with crossed fingers :)
  • Crossed for you as well!! Stay strong and don't start analyzing every little thing you feel in your body. It could just be in your head and drive you crazy if you read into it too much.

    What donor did you select?
  • I went with 13077, called last minute and got the last vial. Hopefully the lucky vial ;)
