  • BabyMama123- are you going to sign up on CCB's sibling registry? I just looked but didn't see any of us on yet.
  • Just had my 16 week ultrasound and all looked well. Saw the legs, feet, arms, and hands and everything. It was really neat. Baby kept wanting to lie on his/her belly so it was hard to see the face yet.
  • Well, I'm obviously biased, but yes, I think my son is adorable! Actually all of 13426's babies are adorable, he makes some really cute babies! We are mostly boys, and I haven't seen any of the girls, but all of the boys are so cute!

Congrats on your 16 week ultrasound! Are you going to find out the gender? I did the Maternit21 test at 10 weeks, I was anxious. So I knew I was having a boy for most of my pregnancy.
  • Tffo-Do the boys all look alike? I wasn't able to do the early gender bloodwork because I had a vanishing twin, but I think I'm not going to find out early and let it be a surprise! Maybe it will help me through labor.
I wonder if the parents of these donors know about all these biological grandchildren out there. Imagine 13426's parents knowing about the fleet of boys. That must be hard to conceptualize.
I can't wait to see what my baby looks like. I'm thinking maybe like my mother, since the donor and she share the same coloring and facial features, tall height, thin, athletic build etc. We will see.
Frankly, I'm so shocked this has worked, it is hard to imagine. I told work since I'm definitely showing.
  • So far I don't really think the boys alike. There's a couple that look a lot like the donor in some ways. It'll be interesting to see how that changes as they grow.

One of the reasons I chose 13426 was because his family medical records were so thorough that it seemed like he must've asked his parents for some of the info. So I like to imagine they know. But still you're right, it must be hard to imagine all those grandchildren they'll never know.

I spent my whole pregnancy and delivery I disbelief that it really worked. And even now, looking at this awesome little man I can't believe I actually made it through and delivered a healthy baby boy! I know how you feel. I hope you can enjoy some of your pregnancy and not spend it waiting for the other shoe to drop like I did. You're getting so close to viability!
  • Just had my 20 week ultrasound last week and all looks well. Still waiting until the birth to see if it is a boy or girl. Now I'm 21 weeks. Did my baby registry and am looking forward to a baby shower in a couple of months.
  • Woohoo! You're more than halfway there! Congrats! Is it getting uncomfortable yet? I thought the second trimester was great, then it started to get rough again.

I hope you have a great shower! I found registering overwhelming. So many things! I haven't used half of them.

Do you have a feeling about what you're having?
  • I'm really not sure what I'm having. I have reached the 26 week mark and feel the baby moving around, especially when I'm talking so baby must like Mommy's voice! I'm almost seven months along and got my first stranger asking about the pregnancy so I'm really starting to show now. I'm looking forward to seeing what the baby looks like.
Yes, I really wish I had a husband to help out. It is hard to even buckle shoes and I'm not supposed to lift anything so I have a friend helping me with the laundry and groceries.
Everyone has been extremely supportive at work and telling me that I will be a great mom and that I 100% am doing the right thing by having a baby on my own. You never know how people will react so I'm pleasantly surprised to get all the supportive words.
  • Heading down the home stretch about five weeks to go if I deliver on my due date. I'm getting very curious now whether it is a boy or a girl. Had my two baby showers, one from friends/family and one from work. Really excited to be a Mommy. Can't wait to see what this little one will look like. I'm breach right now so trying to get this baby to flip.
  • I was just thinking about you today. So exciting, you're so close! Please come back and say what you have. I hope you get that baby to flip and have a great and easy birth.

I live in a small town in the midwest and I gave birth in an even smaller one and I was very pleasantly surprised with how supportive everyone was with my using a sperm donor. Several of the nurses said they thought it was a great idea and asked lots of questions.

I'm sure you'll be a great mom! Not gonna lie, the first few weeks are HARD. Especially if you're breastfeeding, but wow, it's also so great and my heart just grows bigger every day. You're going to love it!
  • Yes, I will definitely post here as to what I have. I have an ultrasound on the 6th to see if the baby flipped, but I have a feeling he/she didn't. I will say it seems to be such a peaceful baby. I get kicks and light jabs here or there but for the most part I think the baby just likes to sleep a lot.
I definitely feel like it is getting towards the end. It is hard to move around that much and get up from seated positions and because I am so swollen my tendons in my wrist and ankle are really swollen and painful.
I have friends helping me clean, do laundry and get groceries because I am feeling my limitations physically, that's for sure. It is very difficult to be 8 or 9 months pregnant and on your own. Thank goodness for my dear friends.
Three years ago I could say I never heard of someone I know personally using a sperm donor, but now I know one couple who are a same sex couple that used a sperm donor and have two kids and I know a woman who is a good friend, who is straight and single like me who is due in November by a sperm donor. I'm glad that I have two different sets of friends that my baby will be around their children so my baby won't feel like he/she is the only one in the universe who was fathered my a sperm donor. My close friends and family know I used a sperm donor but all I said to my work colleagues was that I am a single mother by choice, that this was planned and the father will not be involved. I just feel like my child's parentage is his/her business and not for the gossip mill.
  • Baby is in head down position and just waiting for any day now for labor to begin. Can't wait to find out if it is a boy or girl.
  • Yay! I've been checking every day to see if you've delivered yet. So excited for you!

I feel the same way about my son's parentage. The saddest part for me was leaving the "Father" section blank on his birth certificate, but oh well.

Anyway, can't wait to hear what you have!
  • It's a boy!!! A very, very big boy who finally had to be induced a week after the due date. 10 lbs 1 oz. My little boy is so adorable and extraordinarily strong. The nurses at the hospital couldn't get over that he rolled over in his bassinet the day after he was born. Six month old babies are still learning to roll over. When he was five days old, I lay him on his belly for the first time and he immediately rolled over on his back. He is so strong all over. His arms and legs and even his jaw strength. He has been described as a "block of granite" by the pediatrician. The Dr also noticed his muscle control. He loves his mommy and is most at peace in my arms nursing. He already sleeps most of the way into the night only waking once or twice a night. He rarely cries and if he is crying hysterically it is because he has a dirty diaper. He hates to have a drop of anything in his diaper. I just showed my friend a photo of the donor and he said that the baby is almost identical looking to the donor's baby photo. Same coloring, same features, same facial expression even, just a rounder face and not such a long face as the donor. He loves to be cuddled and snuggled and I am in love with this baby!!!
  • Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you! Boys are so fun. That is amazing that he's so strong already! My son is 6.5 months and is getting so good at pulling himself up to stand, I bet your son will be doing that in no time. I'm just truly so happy for you. It's such a hard journey but so worth it once you hold that baby! It is a love like no other.
  • thanks tffo couldn't be happier
