That's so funny that you mention that Anissa because I just started looking into acupuncture today. (P.S. did finally get my period, so now I can officially start again).
How did you go about finding someone good? How often did you go? Did you go before/after your IUI? Thanks for letting me ask you so many questions!!
I decided I'm going to stay optimistic. It's too early to get discouraged or give up. This is how I have faced most challenges in my life, and it usually works out so hopefully this one will be no different.
Acupuncture and herbs have been a big part of my process too. On average I go weekly but a couple of sessions specifically timed so that I go a few days before sonogram to check follicle size to help support follicle growth, then I go day of IUI, right after it.
Well not pregnant yet (hopefully test positive next week!) I do know its helped a lot with my cycle.
I have been seeing an acupuncturist on and off for 10 years. I love him to pieces. When I told him I wanted to get pregnant he started to prep my body. I then went and saw him every other week or so. He is a single practitioner and it was funny since I ovulated on a day I had an appt and it was a few hours after my IUI. I make my appt weeks in advance. I saw him my entire pregnancy as well. Ask your RE for a recommendation a lot of them work with acupuncturists. My guy is a USA citizen not Chinese and very good looking. I find him part healer part therapist. Good luck. Not sure where you live but if you live in Boston I would happily recommend him.
Thanks, Anissa! Oh, too, bad, I am from Boston, but currently doing my medical training in Pennsylvania! Otherwise, I would have seen your guy ... he sounds great!
I think this acupuncture thing could be very helpful (my ob does them in the office the day of your IUI, but it is laser acupuncture, so don't know how I feel about that!)
...if anything it will help maintain my sanity.
Just tonight, one of my colleagues questioned why I would schedule a doctor's appointment post call(I wasn't asking for any special favors, just to leave on time so I can make my day#3 u/s). Of course, she did not know that the timing of this u/s was critical, but it upset me SOOOO much that she was questioning something so personal .... It's several hours later, and I still can't shake it it really upset me!!!!
Anyhow, thanks guys!!!
Day #1 of next cycle tomorrow .... I go in for my u/s and hopefully they don't tell me I have to "rest" for a cycle.
Karin, The roller coaster can be challenging. Hang in there. i admire your spirit, ready to go for round 2 right away. I decided to take a month of between my first and second try ( in my 2ww now, IUI was done yesterday) Good luck with your U/S today. Wishing the best for you !
