Doctor won't sign authorization

in Single Mothers by Choice

Wondering if anyone else has encountered their primary care physician refusing to sign the donor authorization. I have Kaiser, and my doc says the form has to go through the infertility clinic (which I of course don't have coverage for, so I'm looking at $350 to get a paper signed). Kinda seems like a whack single mom tax. Has this happened to anyone? Anyone find a way around it that costs less than $350?? Thank you!

    Yes kaiser told me the same thing they will not sign form so idk where to go either to get one signed if you live in the Socal erea let me know if you find one.

    So the word is that Kaiser has changed its policy and you have to go through the infertility clinic to get the authorization signed. The initial appointment is around $400, not including tests they might want to run (blood work, ultrasound). So it's like a pretty expensive single tax. Is this legal? Seems discriminatory...

    Not 100% sure, but I don't think NW Cryobank needed a MD's signature. I don't know how that works with Kaiser though...

    yea its their way of making sure that dept get some money because we don't need them for anything before we tried for ourselves a reasonable amount of times

    My wife and I are about to start this entire process and have Kaiser. Was wondering if anyone having issues getting the form signed have any updates? Seems very discriminatory to not sign this form. My wife already has a previous child so she obviously isn't infertile lol

    I have Kaiser here in Los Angeles. My primary signed it 4/19 with no issues. I don’t have fertility coverage either.

    I think the doctor who does the iui or IVF signs it and they'd have to see that you're a good candidate first or else your purchase would be a waste of money. The cost to see a fertility specialist sounds about the same outside kaiser too. Everyone has to get their RE to sign and I don't know of any who do free appointments.

    I have an appointment $300 fee to have my RE sign. He'll be doing other tests too and it will be my second appointment with him. I went through similar steps and costs the prior times I needed it signed too.

    I have Kaiser and my doctor has the notepad in his office, he actually referred me to this facility. A matter of fact he filled out the paperwork before I left his office and have me step by step instructions.
