  Yes. I'm in Houston and due in November. I emailed someone in the registrar's office. Here is a portion of the email sent back to me.
  "After verifying with our field reps from the State Office in Austin, you should have no issues putting both parents’/mothers’ names on the record when the child is born. Just as in the case of an opposite sex couple, you will both need to be present to sign the forms, present valid ID and the hospital may ask for the marriage license, but other than that, there should be no other forms or documentation necessary."

  No problem! I don't remember what I searched to find the answer, but I'm glad I did! It definitely gave me peace of mind not having to fight for my wife's parental rights!

  Yes, I had my daughter in December and my wife is on the birth certificate.

  Firsttimetxmoms - we are in Houston too! I am due in Feb. and trying to figure out all the legal logistics. After the birth certificate are y'all planning or do you have any information on second parent adoption?

  Hello all! Just as a heads up? You will still want to do a second parent adoption in Texas. The birth certificate alone doesn’t solidify parental rights in the case of say divorce or the biological mother’s death. So please consider protecting your family further by taking this additional step.
