First IUI!!!--few questions

Hello! I had my 1st IUI today! The nurse said everything went great and the numbers looked good. She gave me 2 different numbers. The TMS was 20.0. What does TMS stand for? What is the range of that number (what is good/bad)? Also, she said the M was 67%. Is that mobility rate?? What is the range for that number (good/bad)???? I would appreciate any information you can give me on this!!

    Hi Aagema,

    Congrats on your first IUI!

    TMS is the total motile sperm. The standard for our IUI vials is 10 million and basically anything over 5 million is the magic number in terms of potential pregnancy.

    The motility was 67%. Usually we look for 35% or higher for an IUI vial, but it depends on the total sperm concentration.

    And yes, given those stats you had a very good sample.

    I just had my first IUI on Friday! Thanks for asking these questions, it makes me very hopeful that we had a good sample!

    How do I find out the TMS of my donor? First IUI is Fri nervous I am in the 40 club age wise, what is success rate for my age group?

    Congrats on starting the insemination process!

    Our IUI vials contain at least 10 million motile sperm and our ICI vials contain at least 15 million motile sperm after thawing.

    The client in the post above got the specific TMS from her physician's office after they thawed her vial.

    As far as success rates go, it's best to discuss this with your physician. In addition to age, there are other variables involved.
