I am planning on inseminating at home...any recomendations on where to get a home insemination kit??? Or will the sperm come with everything I need?

    While we always recommend having an experienced healthcare professional perform your insemination to maximize your chance at a successful pregnancy, a number of our clients have certainly been succesful inseminating at home.     You don't have a clue! I thought I could do it myself, too, until I got inseminated by a nurse. You don't know what it's all about. They stick almost a needle like syringe in a TINY hole in your cervix. They couldn't even get it into the hole until a few tries. It feels like an OBGYN exam -- not fun. It's not like sex. You've got to get the sperm where the egg is -- way, way up -- need a professional to do that.

    I've worked in OB/GYN for a long time so I do understand exactly how this will work....I have it taken care of as far as that goes :) Thank you for your input though....

    Doing IUI at home yourself is not recommended due to the risk of infection, but doing ICI is totally possible and has little risk.

    When doing ICI at home, you just have to make sure that you don't go past the cervix (again, because of the infection risk due to the sperm being unwashed).

    We've done it. We were successful at home the first time and are now trying for our second child. All it takes it a needless 1cc syringe and a catheter.

    @jgreer How do you know when you're in the right place for ICI?

    Do you still need a doctor to sign the form for purchasing vials? Worried because I've heard it can take months to get an appointment at a fertility place...

    @kj88 You will need a medical professional to sign an A1 form for you before you can ship out vials. (You can purchase vials before you get the A1 form signed.) You don't necessarily need a fertility specialist to sign the A1 form, you may want to check first with your OB/GYN.
