Mexican donors

I have the same question as sheba had about African American donors but about Mexican donors. Any new donors coming soon? There aren't that many to choose from especially since I am limited to CMV negative donors. Thanks!

We do not have any new Mexican donors due for release.
We do currently have 14 donors of Mexican descent. 8 of those donors are CMV negative.
More importantly, there is no medical reason to select a CMV negative donor. CMV negative refers to the presence of the CMV antibody in the system from when a person had an infection in the past. This is similar to someone having the antibody for chicken pox because they had it as a child. You do not catch CMV from someone who once had it. Over half the US adult population is CMV+.
An applicant or donor that tests positive for an active infection is disqualified from donating.
In over 30 years we have never had (or heard of) anyone (client or child) contracting the CMV virus from a CMV+ donor.
Good luck,
Scott
