Hello! Just wondering if anyone can give me feedback about what IUI is costing them. I am considering going that route the next time, but just wanted to see what the average cost is for the doctor's fees. My PCP was the one that signed all of my paperwork and did some tests, but she does not do IUI. My insurance doesn't cover any reproductive treatments of any kind. :( Any info you have would be helpful.

    My ins covers 50% which over all my IUI was still pricey. This is at 50% rate for everything involved so ADD the other 50% to get real cost. These were my cost which is thru an HMO.

    They estimate $2000 a cycle but it's more like about $2800 not including donor.

    Examples of cost
    $280 ea US/visit(had 3-4)
    $240 insemination/preg test
    $1500 meds(8 days of injectibles,1 trigger& 30day suppositories)

    Plus the HCG test (dye to ck tubes) $450
    I also think I go back for a couple more US/visits if pregnant so add that in.

    Maybe this will help give you an idea. I think a specialty clinic I called gave a figure of $3000.

    Hi Ashley,

    We went through a Reproductive Endocrinologist and all of the testing they did was the worst part - really expensive but if you have the blood work and all that out of the way and bring the records to them the actual IUI itself was only $350. Do you have an obgyn you go to that could possibly do it? An RE may be a more expensive route than you are looking for. All together on testing we spent around 1500 for all the bloodwork and ultrasounds because they only accepted PPO insurance which we did not have. On the up side...we got pregnant on the second unmedicated try and all the tests are good for 3 years so we are trying for #2 at the end of the year and we don't have to pay for all the testing again!     My RE charges $100 for the office visit, $200 per ultrasound, which I only have one on day 10-12 then the IUI itself is $150 plus $75 for the lab to thaw and count motility the day of. So that's $525 per IUI try not including the sperm or bloodwork if you become pregnant (that was $114). Good luck!

    Wait, I go to the office twice, once for the US then once for the IUI so there's another office visit charge there too.. $625 per try.

    OH, and when I went in the first day RE charged $150 for the office visit/consult (45 min appt.)and did an US that day for another $200. Now that I type that out, it seems cheap compared to the others! LOL

    Wow... so even on the inexpensive side you are looking at between $1300 and $1400 for each cycle. I am trying to weigh our options to optimize success. The biggest issue is that we definitely do not have the funds to pay $1400 monthly and waiting until we do could mean that my chances at getting pregnant decrease. Hum... lots to think about. Has anyone done at home IUI? I have read about it, but don't know that I would feel comfortable with it. Thoughts?

    Ashley, I'm not sure of your age or any health problems you may have, but if you are fairly young you can save money on meds and testing . An unmedicated IUI at home will be around $700 some people give this a try first, especially since your insurance does not cover even testing. The U/S in more neccessary when you are not getting any results on the opk or just want to be certain you are ovulating. You could also invest in a fertility monitor which is about $150, always to cut cost. As for me after months of not getting any results we contacted an RE and got all bloodwork done and are now going the fully medicated, complete with all doctors intervention which cost approx. $1500 a month with insurance completely covering the u/s.

    ashley.... iui cost 1200 in my area! i am in the chicagoland area. the 1200 includes, all blood work - ultra sounds and the procedure! hope this helps you!

    My partner and I are about to start the process as well at home next month.

    I am completely new to this process but am hoping for the best. Any advise you can give I'd appreciate !!

    We were extremely lucky. We use a regular OBGYN in the inland empire and found out with our 1st IUI that 50% of the procedure was covered making the cost $70!!!! That's only for the IUI not ultrasound or anything and washing is about $35. So it depends on your area and the facility. (And sometimes the doctor! Our first doctor told us insurance covered $0 but the 2nd doctor called to verify.) GOOD LUCK & Best Wishes!!!
