Donor has NO Pregnancy - Reasons?

Hi there,

I'm curious, is there any information available to donor recipients as to why the donor has not had any pregnancies. i.e. he hasn't been picked that often? Or has never been picked?

I have a donor that has no pregnancies but I'm not sure if that's because of his sperm (his counts were 14.4 million and 50% motility after thaw) or because nobody has picked him.

    Hi Alicia -

    You have nothing to worry about.

    First off, those statistics are fine.

    Second, it takes up to a year from the time a donor is first released for pregnancy reports to start coming in. I don't know your donor number, but my guess is this is the issue.

    Third (and most importantly), all CCB donors go through an extensive screening process that guarantees they are 100% capable of a successful pregnancy. In general, CCB donors' sperm quality is in the top 15-20% of the male population.

    I do not know of a single donor in our 33 year history that did not eventually have successful pregnancies recorded.

    Hi Scott,

    My donor is 11741 and it looks like, based on his application he came into the clinic in February of 2008. So I'm guessing he was released at the beginning of 2010?

    Sorry... I just was a bit curious as to whether or not we should be looking for a different donor if he hasn't had any pregnancies.

    Nope. There is no reason to switch and no medical reason to choose a donor based on previous pregnancies. It will have absolutely nothing to do with your chances of a successful pregnancy.

    Well, I got a BFP on the test... so now I'm just waiting for my BETA's to come back... so I was getting all weird for nothing. :)

    HI!!!! OMG!!!! So I had to respond because this is too cool... My name is Alycia as well... I have been trying with donor #11741 as well... and I logged in just now because I was wondering about the No Reported pregnancies as well... Weird.

    I am so glad to hear about your BFP and please keep us posted...

    Strange that all it took was the same name and same donor # to give me a spark of hope...

    Small world!

    I'm currently 6 weeks today, and on Tuesday (6/22) I'll be going in for my first OB ultrasound. Praying to see a little flicker on the screen of that tiny heart beating! I'll keep you posted...

    11741 is still showing as no pregnancies reported. Should this be updated on his profile?

    ^Buffy, its cause the people who are pregnant with this donor(or have given birth already) havent called in to CCB to report their pregnancy or birth. Some people wait awhile before reporting a pregnancy/birth and others simply choose not to report it.

    We are also thinking of using 11741, I wonder if their are anymore success stories? Does his medical worry anyone else? His baby pics are sooo cute!!! Any info would help, thanks!

    Hi there! I'm one of those pregnancies - now birth. We had our baby girl on February 7th. She was 7lbs, 11oz - born at 4:47am and 18.5 inches long. She's beautiful! Just thought I would give an update!

    Excited to hear that my daughter actually has siblings out there! :)

    Hi ladies!

    We also went with Donor 11741 but I only have 2 of his pictures? AliciaCherie if you have the other two and wouldn't mind sharing them my email is SuzannaC428@aol.com.

    I can gladly compare notes with any of you since we ordered our vials on Nov. 1, 2011 -- he was released to order in late 2009, less than 5 pregancies reported, no changes or updates to medical information and the 2 pictures we have are adorable.

    We're doing our first back to back IUI's this month -- one with my husbands "sample" and one with 11741's "sample" as we are only dealing with low-fair morphology and fair motility from my husband. Hoping that by combining the two we'll have great results this month!

    I am also using donor 11741. My insemination is next week! jfkb123, how many times did you guys try with this donor before getting your BFP?
