Hi ladies. I just wanted to share that I went to my first Single Mothers By Choice meeting yesterday. It was SO great to go and share stories with other women who are going through this. There were an equal number of ...
1. Women just thinking about getting pregnant
2. Women TTC
3. Pregnant women
4. and women with children

I was so amazed at the beautiful, strong women I was surrounded by. I live in the suburbs where everyone is married, and it was great to spend time with like-minded women.

I strongly suggest looking into a chapter near you!

    I know there is supposed to be a group that meets in LA. I wrote to the lady that supposedly runs the meetings but I never heard back. I would love to find a meeting in LA though so if you hear of anything let me know.

    I checked out their website and it looks like you have to be a member to find out the locations of the meetings. Membership is pretty cheap though so I'll probably check it out and let you know when I have some time.

    What age range do you see among the single mothers and women who are thinking about having a baby? I am 44 and I think I have decided to try. So, I was just wondering. Thank you.

    Hi Kelley. At the meeting I went to, the age range was about 35-47. There were many women in their early 40s who became pregnant. The woman who was 47 tried for many years - but became pregnant at 45 with a donor embryo.

    Hi Smilie. Yes, I had two IUIs, both BFN, Then last month, my cycle was canceled due to blood tests. (the eggs were developing poorly)
    This month I am doing injectable Gonal-F and (hopefully) having my third IUI next week.

    How about you? Are you also a teacher?

    I'm another single mom-to-be ttc in NYC...on my second IUI in the middle of my tww. Not a teacher though...

    Here's the info about the NYC meeting...

    Please plan to attend the next SMC NYC meeting Sunday November 7th! We hope
    everyone feels welcome to attend, no matter where you are in the SMC process
    -- from new thinkers through moms with grown up children! In fact, because
    our recent meetings have been so well attended, we got a larger room for
    this month. That way there more room to talk in small groups and for babies
    and children to crawl and run around.

    The following SMC NYC meeting is scheduled for 12/5.

    Where: University Settlement House, 273 Bowery Street
    * just south of Houston on the east side of Bowery
    * next to the Whole Foods and in a shared space with the YMCA

    Agenda:
    1:00 PM to 1:30 PM - new member orientation
    1:30 PM to 2:00 PM - large group discussion
    2:00 PM to 4:00 PM - small group discussion

    Cost: $12 per meeting

    When you enter the building, go downstairs one floor to sign in at the
    reception desk. (There are both stairs and an elevator.) After signing in,
    you will be directed to the meeting room.
