Had any of you get pregnant after an IUI and miscarry in the early pregnancy? If so, How soon did you try again? Did you carry for full term?
Since I miscary at 5 wks (from 5/18-5/26)and my body got rid of the pregnancy by its own; my fertility Dr. said it was Ok to try after 1 period but my family dr. said at least 2. I am really confused, I can't wait any more to get pregnant again but I am scared to lose another baby,it will feel worst than the first.

    Hello...I am so sorry for your loss. Hugs.

    I don't have any experience with this, but I would probably trust my RE since they deal with this type of thing more often than my family physician...but, that's just my opinion.

    Good luck in whatever decision you choose and my God bless you with a beautiful, healthy baby.

    Hi gris7ana,

    I know exactly how you're feeling because I had a miscarriage myself last week. I'd only just received my BFP, so it was very early in the pregnancy (and I imagine it must be much harder when it comes later---so sorry), but it was still painful and very disappointing.

    My RE advised me to take 1-2 cycles off and since I have vacation plans for August, I figured I'd just take the two months off. But it's very hard to switch track, even temporarily, after being obsessed with this for so long (this was my 7th IUI), not to mention that ticking biological clock (I'm 40).

    I too have been thinking about my next attempt, even though I'm also a bit scared. But it's something to look forward to in the midst of a painful time. In the meantime, I'm just going to try get back to living and, hopefully, enjoying life.

    I would take your doctor's advice and just take a little time off--both for your body and soul. And hang in there.

    I should add that I've read different takes on whether or not getting pregnant again very soon after a miscarriage can increase the chances of another miscarriage and also whether or not it can actually increase your chances of getting pregnant. No firm answers on either of those questions, as far as I can tell. But the consensus seems to be---from what I've read about others' stories and what my RE said---that one cycle off is enough (if you didn't have a d&c).

    Thank you guys for all your responses, that really help us go through this and I am soo sorry for your losses. My pertner and I deceided to wait at least to normal periods before trying again just to be safe. Do not give up, one day you'll have a lille miracle!!

    I'm very sorry for your loss. Don't give up, try again because it's in the trying that success will arrive. We just don't know when but I'm wishing the best for you all.
