IVF using partner's egg

Hi there,

We just started our process to get pregnant and are strongly considering doing the IVF and getting me pregnant with my partner's egg (and later on getting my partner pregnant with my egg). I'm 31 and my partner is 32.

I found an old thread about the topic and thought it was very useful.

Has anyone else done it before? How was it?

We are mostly worried about the risk of having twins or + children all at once. We would love to have our child at home with a midwife.

Anyone out there that has done the IVF with egg transfer had natural birth?

    I haven't, but wanted to and our insurance wouldn't cover it.

    If you're doing an all natural birth, I would suggest Hypnobabies...

    If there's not a class near you, they have a home study program, which is what we did. Check it out and good luck on your journey.

    Hey!
    I might be considering this option is our Dr Assisted IUI does not work.
    I am 39 and still having blood work done. My thyroid levels are elevated so the DR wants to work on that first.
    Waiting for my insulin tests to come back.
    Also, my AMH levels were low, but my FSH, LH, E2 etc..were all in the normal range.

    My DP is 32 and we have talked about the possibility of using her eggs.

    But I wonder what all legal paperwork would be involved?

    My partner and I looked at this as an option as well but it is REALLY expensive and with all the legal paperwork it was just overwhelming. The clinic that we spoke with in Texas estimated around $15,000 to $25,000, which included the legal aspect as well.

    My partner and I were considering it as an option for our second child (even though I am still working on the first). 25k oh my gosh!!!! that is ridiculous.

    me and my wife been thinking about doing the ivf as well. but i hear it cost alot of money. so we are thinking just gettin a donor that similar genes as my wife. that way it could look like her too.

    My wife and I are on day 10 after the transfer of three of my eggs to her. We have an appt this week when they will do a blood pregnancy test on her to see if any of the eggs implanted. I am 39 and she is 30, so we are a little unusual in that my eggs and not hers were used. She really wanted, and so do I, for her to carry all of our children. We hope to be able to use the rest of our specimens for baby two and her eggs. We are getting really nervous right around now, especially since she has been having some cramps but apparently that means nothing.

    My advice...everything is a roller-coaster, IVF is very expensive but totally worth it if you can scrounge up the money. There is a high risk of twins, so you can either live with it or risk a reduction and losing the whole pregnancy. The entire experience has been intense. I have Graves disease, which sounds worse than it is, so we had to postpone for nearly a year until they got my thyroid under control. Once it was the three weeks of hormones went by amazingly fast, and frankly I think the whole thing left us dizzy. But here we are waiting "cautiously hopeful". If it's what you want, save the money, take your time, plan carefully. In retrospect I wouldn't change a thing.

    Thanks. We actually broke down yesterday and took an EPT, it came back positive. Did a second one this morning and it was positive...we just need to take our blood test tomorrow to confirm and then pray to get through the next ten weeks!

    Hi Caro, how is your pregnancy going?

    My partner started with the hormones shots today, hopefully everything will go well and we will do the transfer at the end of the month! We are so excited!!!

    My partner used my eggs and we now have a wonderful bouncing baby boy. We are in Texas and unlike CHEER4You, all up, all in at our clinic the process was right around $10K.

    Hi Caro, glad to hear your pregnancy is going well and 1st trimester is over!

    We had my partner's retrieval a little over a week ago and we did the transfer last Wednesday (2 embryos - 5 day) and I'm doing the blood exam on August 2nd... can't wait to find out!!! So far everything is going well, not feeling anything... just wish time would go by faster!! :)

    We considered using my partners' eggs for me to carry but decided it was too much work for both of us up front (lots of fertility drugs despite us not being infertile, expense, time, etc). Once she agreed to carry the baby this time (I carried our now 4 year old son) it made sense to use her own eggs. Also we choose to have only ONE embryo inserted for IVF (hugely reduces chance of multiples). Fortunatly, IVF worked the first time and our baby is due early december ;0)

    If you're both planning on carrying children it might be a lot less complicated, on many levels, to use your own eggs and have the other parent legally adopt after birth.

    I know this thread is a little old, but thought I'd chime in. I haven't been on here in so long. Long story short, my partner and I have two beautiful daughters using the same CCB donor and me carrying my own eggs. We are in the process of going for our consultation with our RE for us to use my partners eggs (she's 31) and me carrying again (I'm 29) with our same CCB donor. Our consultation is November 5th. I will get back to everyone to let them know how much the fees are through our clinic. I have been researching it and there is a wide range for fees. It should be interesting.

    Just thought I'd let everyone know the cost. We are looking at 12,000 and that is everything minus drugs. So far after researching our insurance company our drugs seem to be covered just have copayments. Very excited about it all....Now just to decide when to go forward with it! Lots to think about. We will be doing it, it's just a matter of when! So excited :)
