How many attempts before BFP???

Hi I know they say the average number of attempts before success is 3-4 IUI's.

I am just curious how many attempts did it take for "YOU" to get your BFP??

  • We were successful on try # 2 just recently. 150mg of clomid (50mg the 1st try) and the trigger shot (no trigger shot on the 1st try). I truly believe the trigger shot is what did it because the clomid didn't really do its job. I only produced 1 follicle the 1st try and 2 the 2nd try but only 1 was of mature size.

    Good luck to you!!
  • I was successful on my first attempt in January. I was 40 years old and the only thing I did was use 50mg of clomid.
  • I was not as lucky as RStrasburg and Trace D. It took me 8 failed IUI's and one attempt with IVF, but now I am 33 wks pregnant with my first child and love every single thing about being pregnant. It is truly a blessing, so don't give up even if it takes you longer than others. I thank God everyday that I did not give up because I was so close, but I would have missed out.
Good luck to you if you ever need anything don't hesitate to ask!!!
  • Thanks for the encouragement. It is always nice to hear from people who it has work for. We have had 4 failed donor IUI and are going for #5 with a new donor this cycle. I just keep hoping this will be the lucky cycle. Congrats to all you lucky ladies who got you BFP I hope to join the group next month :)
  • This was my 2nd IUI with a trigger shot and 150mg of clomid im now 6 weeks pregnant with twins!
  • After 78 months of TTC using various failed methods, we did two IUIs with 50 mg of Clomid and the Ovidrel trigger...on the 2nd try, we finally got pregnant. I am now 17 1/2 weeks pregnant with twins, and it looks like we're having a boy & a girl from the last ultrasound! DEFINITELY worth the wait!!!
  • I was succesfull on my first IUI with 50mg of clomid days 4 to 8 and ovidrel shot 24 hours before IUI.
  • Omesaara and Karen congrats to you guys !

I'm looking forward to my IUI in December/January it seems so far away, but I have some weight to lose first. It's a struggle. I would love to have boy/girl twins !

    Again, Congrats.
  • Hey Omesaara and badovinatzn- congrats, first of all - and secondly, how many hours after your trigger shot did you get inseminated? I go for my ultrasound on sunday and will prob take the shot at night. I know all dr's are different - i think mine says 36 hours...so i'm curious for you two.
  • I am curious how many hours after trigger everyone did their IUI's?? My RE did my 37.5 hrs after I triggered and according to the sono I had not O'ed yet, but they said the follie looked faded on the screen so it was about to rupture...who knows! This is so frustrating :( My beta is 7/30

I have already done IVF and 2 FET cycles with DH sperm and I'm now on my 3rd IUI with DS, but this is my first medicated cycle with clomid and the ovidrel trigger. Also used a different donor this time so I'm really hoping these were the changes we need to finally get a BFP. Congrats to everyone who has got a BFP!

  • I did my shot at 9:30 pm on a Monday then went in Wednesday morning and was inseminated at 9:30, so exactly 36 hours later.
  • I also had my IUI 36 hours after trigger shot =)
  • Congrats to those who got the BFP. If you didnt already mention it could you please share your ages with us please? Baby dust to all!
  • I'm 28.
  • I have done 3 IUIs (the first 2 with 50 mg clomid/trigger shot) and the 3rd with 100 mg clomid/trigger shot. I had all 3 IUIs 36 hours after the trigger shot. I am still in the 2ww with the 3rd IUI. I am 32 years old and no fertility issues. My husband has azoospermia (lacks the cells that produce sperm).
  • I'm 26
  • I'm 35 with no problems with fertility. My husband has azoospermia too. I did my first Ovidrel shot this sunday at 8pm and had my second IUI this morning at 8am. I also took femara. I start that wonderful 2ww today with a few others, i see. Good luck to all of us...
