Can my partner provide his sperm?

My partner and I have been trying to get pregnant for a while and haven't been able to so I wanted to see what was available that would get me pregnant. I was looking more into the artificial insemination. Can this be done? Do you know where we can do this? I live in Richmond so anywhere from here to Oakland would be fine. Please respond

  • Check with your doctor or OB-GYN to recommend an infertility doctor. From there you can see if your insurance covers part of it. The infertility doctor can take to seciman and do the insemination.
  • Hi Frances-

Yes, you can use your partner's sperm for insemination. However, you will want to have him tested to make sure there are no issues on his end (low sperm count, poor motility, etc. It is a simple process. He should be able to get a referral from his regular doctor for a local andrologist and/or lab to run the test.

You can also have the test done at our Palo Alto lab if it is convenient for you.
