what is the difference?

What is the difference between ICI premium vials and IUI vials? Another question, is there a limit to how many offspring a donor could have?

thanks,

  • Hi -

IUI vials are "washed" prior to freezing to remove poor quality sperm and seminal fluid. The wash is necessary because an IUI places the sperm much closer to the egg than an ICI (at home).

A physician can wash an ICI after thaw prior to performing an insemination. If your doctor performs the wash on an ICI vial, there will be a charge for a lab fee.

The sperm count is usually better on an IUI than a washed ICI.

CCB targets 25-30 families maximum per donor. The average is closer to 12.
