  • Yes, I got pregnant on my first unmedicated IUI. I did not have any fertility issues beforehand and I was 39 years old. Here is what I did. At the beginning of my cycle I had the sperm sent to my doctor. I started taking prenatals and baby aspirin. I did my HSG test on Day 11 and it was normal. I used an ovulation test and got the happy face at night on Day 14. I called the doctor the next morning and went in for the IUI at 11:00 a.m. I was given progesterone suppositories to start that day. I used an over the counter pregnancy test 10 days after the IUI and it was positive. I think it was mostly luck, but it worked and everyone was surprised. My son was born on July 2, 2011!
  • That is really encouraging to hear because I see so many posts from women who have had multiple attempts that I was beginning to wonder if IUI was even worth trying.
I am in my first IUI cycle now - on day 7.
    thanks
  • I am finishing up my testing phase and am looking forward to the IUI procedure. I too am happy to hear that it does have a chance of working the first time! CONGRATS!!!
  • I had a success on my first try with my first son. That was 4 years ago, I was 29. Now I am preg with 2nd child. This time took 4 tries, but still worth it! Also, FYI, first time no drugs at all, this time I used 100 mg Clomid to help with egg recruitment. Best of luck!
  • We got pregnant on our second unmedicated IUI. Don't lose hope! We are 13 weeks pregnant and so excited!
  • We also got pregnant on our second unmedicated IUI. I am 14 wks along and am 32 yrs old. Good luck!
  • I got pregnant on my first try with no meds my son is now 2 years old and I am on my tww for baby #2 on my fist IUI. Dr was very surprised I got pregnant on my first IUI because he had given me a 3% chance. So it is very possible. I hope I have the same luck this time too. Wish everyone luck.
  • Glad to know that there are some successful first tries - I am a poor social worker, so I'm struggling to come up with the money for my first attempt! I will be medicated (both clomid and injections) when I do my IUI because I have PCOS, so I'm hoping that the meds and the ultrasounds will maximize my chances. I actually had a dream the other night that I found out I was pregnant with twin girls, and I woke up panicked, thinking "I don't think I can handle two babies on my own!" But then I realized that if I did have twins, I would probably qualify for WIC, childcare assistance, and possibly even food stamps on my income - which is just high enough that I WOULDN'T qualify with one child! Lol.
  • First try? I'm jealous. I had 3 IUIs with Clomid which were unsuccessful. I'm most likely moving on to injectables next month. Not sure how I"ll swing it with work b/c I'm told I need to go in every other day for an ultrasound & bloodwork before IUI. The office starts their ultrasounds too late for me to make it into work on time and I don't have the type of job to go in late every other day. Frustrating.
  • Yes, I am 6 weeks pregnant from my first IUI. I did clomid & HCG to ensure timing etc. No known fertility issues. 11DPO I broke down and tested and got a BFP.... Tomorrow going in for ultrasound to see hopefully 1 little bean and the heartbeat.... fingers crossed.
