2 vs 1 insemination?

So we have done one cycle with one insemination and two cycles with two. We are starting meds for our next cycle. Why have you chosen to do two vs 1. Is it really that more effective? A second insemination is very costly. If you also have some go to books or websites let me know.

The essential guide to lesbian conception, pregnancy, and birth is great! They recommend two inseminations per cycle and say that if money is an issue it would be better to do two skip cycles in order to do two inseminations because the chances of success with only one inseminations are very low.
