Retired Donor 13115

There are a few families who have babies from this donor and we have tried calling customer service to see if we could reactivate him to have a second child. We have been told that he declined to donate further two times. We do not have enough vials to ensure that we can have a full sibling set which is really sad because our children are the best and we would like to use the same donor. Is there anything else we can do to convey our eagerness to get more vials from this donor?
Thanks

  • Hi Hay -

It's heartbreaking for us to have to inform clients hoping for a little brother or sister for their child that vials are no longer available. Your request of a donor reactivation signifies your eagerness and we understand the importance. We created our Family Today & Family Tomorrow programs to help clients plan for their future and secure vials for siblings with free storage.

Donor 13115 completed our donor program nearly three years ago. At the time vials were first released for sale, he was already retired and finished donating.

Donor reactivations are not guaranteed and we only offer this service to clients with a child by a donor when all other options have been exhausted. Reactivations require the donor to go through the entire donor screening process, which can take several months. Location changes, life changes, and time constraints are just some of the reasons why a former donor cannot participate in a reactivation, even if he wanted to. And the few that can participate in reactivations may not pass the donor screening process. Reactivation is lengthy, expensive, and unreliable which is why we strongly advise clients that want multiple children with the same donor to take advantage of our Family Tomorrow program when they choose their donor.

Unfortunately, at this point the only option is to wait and see if any vials currently stored by other clients get sold back to us via our vial buyback program. Since you requested a reactivation, I assume that you are already on our notification list to receive an email if vials become available. If not, you can contact Client Services at 866-927-9622 and ask to be added.

I wish that I had better news to share with you, as we’d love to help you grow your family. (If you decide at some point that you might like to find a similar donor, our Client Services staff would be happy to assist you.)

For anyone reading this that’s new to this process, if you are at all considering having more than one child, please look into our free storage programs. We also offer a vial exchange option and a 50% vial buyback, just in case your situation changes. https://cryobank.com/Services/Additional-Services/

  • This is very old but I found it by searching 13115. I have 2 vials in my RE's office in NYC that I won't be using and am seeing if anyone is looking for them before I have them destroyed. I'm responding to every message (they're all old) regarding this donor. I'm going to also do my own post about this.
