When did you move onto IVF?

My partner and I had two failed ICI cycles. We found a great fertility dr and have had 3 failed IUI cycles. I am 28 years old and all my blood work, HSG tests have come back looking good. I have regular cycles and ovulate on my own. The past two failed cycles I was on 5mg Femara and produced 3 mature follicles and did the trigger shot and IUIs 36 hours after trigger. We've also switched donors to see if that would work. We are trying another IUI but I am just feeling so exhausted and frustrated. We have no insurance coverage so we have spent close to $15k already, we're thinking IVF is the smart thing to do if this cycle doesn't give us our BFP. Does anybody have any suggestions? Any pregnancies after multiple failed ICI and IUI attempts? Thanks in advance for sharing your experience and advice!

  • Hello.
I had 7 failed IUIs and will now be doing IVF in a few weeks. Part of me wishes I would have switched plans earlier but it is so difficult to know what to do. For me it got more and more stressful each month and I think that was part of the problem. I did 7 months in a row. Taking a break gave my body and mind a rest and gave me time to save up some more money. Good luck to you! All of these decisions are difficult ones!
  • Thank you so much for your response! We are in the TWW to see if number 4 worked and then will probably move on to IVF. If you remember, please let me know how your first round of IVF goes and if it is successful. Thank you and good luck!!
  • I originally bought 10 vials knowing I wanted 2 kids. I was 39 years old when I did this expecting to give birth when I was 40. After my 5th IUI I got pregnant and gave birth to the most amazing baby. I am so in love with him. When he was a year I decided to try again and used up all my IUI vials. after 6 failed attempts I decided to do IVF. I am now in the IVF process. I am staring my shots tomorrow morning. yikes!

I decided to document the journey so other women who are curious about what it's like can see it first hand through the eyes of a woman actually going through it. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLC9ldGXALKAAFWUxzl706EPCJTdwFJ5_T

My blood work, ultrasound all came out great. I am very healthy and exercise regularly. I'm sure if I continued trying IUI it would have worked, but I decided that the 20% odds are too low for me as I'm getting older :) I am now 41 and hopefully will get pregnant on this IVF cycle.

Good luck to you! I wish you the best of luck with which ever route you are going with.
