IUI vs ICI Vials.

I was wondering if you could use an IUI vial for an at home ICI. I know some are washed and some are not.. but can the IUI vial be used for ICI?

  • No. IUI vials are for intrauterine insemination. They don't have the seminal fluid sperm need to swim through the cervix like they would in an ICI -- where the semen is placed in the vagina by the cervix. An IUI puts the sperm directly into the uterus and should be done by a trained doctor or nurse. When sperm goes directly into the uterus, it must be removed from the seminal fluid first, or it can cause severe cramping and other issues, which is why it's washed. So if you're doing an ICI you need ICI vials.
