How many IUI's for you?

My partner and I are starting our 5th cycle for IUI. First 3 were with Clomid, 4th was with Femara, and the current cycle will be with Femara and HCG trigger shot. (we have also switched donors for this cycle) I would like to hear how many IUI's it took for you? Or at what point did you say 'enough is enough'? IVF isn't an option for us. We fortunately do have another available womb in waiting (mine)...but I know my partner really wants to carry first and I want her to have that opportunity too. But we just don't know what our limit is. I'm thinking 6 cycles?? *sigh* This is so emotionally exhausting. Really needing to hear some success stories right now.

Good Luck, it will work out.
Dharmabum- Our Re hasn't given us any reasons why it hasn't worked. My partner had and HSG test last month and everything looks great. He said basically 6 IUI's then we talk about other options or at least take a break for a few months. This months we will do Femara again, but with trigger shot (plus different donor) so I'm hoping this will be the one. Thank you and good luck to you too!
Timesinfinity- Congratulations and thank you for giving me some hope! My partner already had the HCG last month and all looked perfect. The RE does ultrasounds monthly but only after the cycle has failed. She has some cysts the first month because of the fertility medication but they are now gone. I have tried to be aggressive with the RE, in fact the only reason we are trying anything different this time is because I insisted! Lol! I asked him if we could do a trigger shot or something different and he said, "Well, we can. That's what people do when they become more desperate." and I said, "Well, we're desperate!" Sheesh! We talking only two more IUI's here! Hoping this one will be different.
After reading up on IUI and infertility I must admit I am shocked at how careless RE's are going about patients care. My wife is 36 and only has one ovary (both are polycystic and one was removed because of that). Our Dr has done all the lab work, ultrasounds, HSG, and is about to do they hydro(ultrasound) thing - can't think of the name - because he wants to rule out polyps...all before we get started. I don't understand why ALL dr's wouldn't check everything they possibly could before wasting people's money!!! I would be pissed if I did 5 IUI's just to find out we couldn't get pregnant because of polyps or cysts or blocked fallopian tube.
The last thing we have to check for uterine polyps - if we have them we have to get them removed first, but then we are hoping to try our first IUI late march early april regardless if we have to have the surgery or not. Our RE is going to put us on clomid, use OPK and then do ultrasounds to check follicles and if needed do the trigger shot. So all of that would be on try one.
I can't even imagine what some people have gone through, but I think with as expensive as this is, I would request my RE to be as aggressive as possible just to up the chances of pregnancy!
Good luck to all!
Hopefully everything turns out ok for you and Good luck to everyone.
