Experiences with 13403?

I just tried my first IUI with donor 13403, and his sperm count was disappointingly low (around 3.5 million). I am in the two week wait right now, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a successful outcome despite the low number. But, if it's not successful, I'm not sure what to do. That's still my favorite donor, but I don't want to keep being disappointed by low numbers. For others who have used that donor, what have your counts been? Has anyone had good experiences?

Or should I switch???

  • I have not used this donor but did have a similar vial for my first IUI. I too only had 3.5 million. My doctor's office wasn't real happy with it but I kept telling myself it only takes one. It did only take one, I got pregnant with that vial. It ended in a miscarriage but that seems to be an issue on my end.

Anyway...don't lose hope. It only takes one!! I wish you all the luck with this cycle and hope you don't need to make any further decisions.
  • Was this an IUI vial you purchased and used? My wife and I (both 31, no known fertility issues after getting clean HSGs, etc.) used Donor 13403 ICI vials, which our fertility place thawed and washed, resulting in about 14M total motility count (ie. 14M motile sperm) for each of our 2 IUIs. The second one got me pregnant, but the chromosomes didn't line up right and we lost it before the 3rd week. Trying again this month.... Only 3 vials left. If they don't take, we are moving on to another donor.
  • Starluck, would you mind letting me know what the donation date was of the vial you used?

I was planning on ordering a few vials of Donor 13403 later this week. But since I'm on my 6th IUI and my last donor only had 1.9 million, I am so scared of being disappointed again with low sperm counts....thanks.
  • Becky1141 -- Thanks for the optimism, I'm still really hopeful that it took. :)

Coley81 - yes, I purchased an IUI vial and used it over the weekend. Maybe it would be better to order the ICI. Thanks so much for your information. I really like the donor, so I'm glad to hear that other people have had better experiences.

Roaminroman - I don't know the date of the donation, but I ordered it last week.

Best of luck to you all!!
  • I'm using an IUI this weekend with donor 13403. This will be my third try with this donor (first was ICI at home, second IUI at home and now this time is IUI at doctors office, with Clomid, trigger shot and progesterone after). I'm doing trigger shot tomorrow night I think (U/S tomorrow) and inseminating this weekend. I'll let you know if I get a BFP. Best of luck to everyone.
  • good luck Anghart29! If you happen to find out his motile sperm count would you mind posting it? I'm one week away from deciding whether to purchase him or not....thanks & good luck!
  • Hello all! I just had my second IUI with this donor on 9/4. His count was 10 million with 48% motility. This donation was drom 4/18/12. The time before that, was 12 million with 52% motility. I can't remember the donation date on that one. I hope this helps!!! Aren't you supposed to get a refund for anything below 10 million? I thought I read that somewhere.

Ang - good luck!!!! 3rd times the charm!!! This is my 3rd too!!

Prayers and baby dust to us all!!!

    Jennie :)
  • Dragonflinurse, thank you so much for sharing your vial information with me. It sounds like both vials have great counts.

I will end up getting a refund for my two vials with low sperm counts, but it's with a different bank and hence I've started looking for my next donor here at CCB.

Wishing you lots of luck with the 3rd IUI!
  • Roam - glad you are getting a refund from your previous vials! Thank you so much for the well wishes! I also wish you the best of luck in this journey!!!

    Prayers and baby dust!!

    Jennie :)
  • Hi All, Well I'm REALLY frustrated because I just got the IUI and the sperm count was 7 million! Which is very low!! Of course I'm praying against the odds but please someone let me know how to get reimbursed for these two vials of IUI sperm that I've purchased with such a low count. Sigh.
  • Ang - you absolutely can get reimbursed for that vial. The CCB guarantees 10million. I would just give them a call or send them a message asking what the process is for reimbursement. So where are you in your 2WW?

I am 6 dpiui. This last vial was 10million and the one before that was 12million. This time around I'm not obsessing about every symptom and its been nice. Not saying it's not dragging on, but I'm not testing every day and convincing myself of symptoms. I think I will hold out testing until next Monday which will be 12dpiui.

Keep me posted!!! Prayers & baby dust to us!!!

    Jennie :)
  • Dragonflinurse....I'm hoping your TWW is bearable and soon comes to a happy ending.

My 2ww ended yesterday with a negative, so I finalized my new donor decision and decided to go with 13403, he seems like real Salt of the Earth kind a guy. I will admit I'm a bit nervous about his motility counts, so for the two vials I purchased, I requested to different donation dates. Here's to hoping our current and future IUI cycles are a success.
  • Tomorrow (Tues) will be 7 days post IUI but honestly I'm not hopeful at all since 13403 had a refundably low (!!!) sperm count. I'm still so mad about it. This process is so emotionally, financially and physically that you would assume that the sperm is the one thing you can count on to be good. Grrrr.
  • Roam - sorry about your BFN, but glad you decided to go with 13403. Good luck and keep in touch!

Ang - I feel your pain! I'm 13dpiui and although I'm having symptoms, I have had 3 BFNs on cds 10, 11 & 12. I started having what feel like AF cramps today, but my sister said when she was pregnant, she had cramps that felt exactly like AF cramps so I pray that that's what I'm having and she doesn't show her ugly face. I'm so emotionally drained and I'm not sure I can do this again. So many ups and downs. That really sucks about the low sperm count!!! I would be pissed! Mine had been 12mil & 10mil. I hope the rest of your TWW flies by and ends with a BFP!! Keep me posted. Hugs!!!

    Prayers & baby dust!
  • I'm on day 10 piui. Trying to hold out 2 more days
Until I do a HPT. I've had no symptoms this time (3rd)
around YET. But, count was 24 mill so I'm hopeful. I've been
Taking prometrium 3x per day. Until this process, I never knew how each baby born into this world is a true miracle. Good luck, everyone!

  • Coley81 I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you, and for Dragonflinurse too.

My vials of donor 13403 made it safely to my ER's office today and I anticipate my next IUI to be either on Monday or Tuesday of next week. I can only hope he has a high sperm count. 24 million is the highest I've ever heard of. Heck, with my past bad experience I'm happy with anything over 10.1 million.

    -Caroline
  • ok, so I went in for my sixth (ugh) IUI this morning, first time using donor 13403. Since my last bad experience with poor sperm counts from another bank, today's count was not much better. Donation date 3/3/12, total motile sperm count 4.8 million (26.3 mil/cc, 0.4 mL vial size & 46% motility) Hopefully CCB with honor their 10 mil guarantee. The last remaining vial I have is dated 2/21/12....I can only pray the numbers are better.

Sending happy thoughts and good luck to all of you in your 2WW.
  • Hi Everyone,

After 3 IUI's, I got my BFP last Tuesday!!! My initial HSG ml/u was 257 the second was 909. I have my first ultrasound on 9/30. I'm very excited to find out my due date. From my really rough estimation its approx. June 5th. I wish everyone the best of luck in their journey's. Please stay in touch! Lots of sticky baby dust for you all.

    -Nicole
  • Congratulations Nicole, fantastic news!!!
  • We got our official BFP a week ago yesterday! It took 4 failed IUI's and this was our first IVF attempt with this donor! Soooo excited!! Our first ultrasound is Monday! Hope all is going well inside :) Babydust to you all! I will say that our IUI numbers were VERY high with this donor.
  • Fantastic news, lafe5512! Congratulations!

We're in week 8 now and finally transferring from our fertility place to an ObGyn.

  • I am selling two vials of 13403. Please email me at ccbdonor13403@gmail.com if you're interested.
  • lafe5512, please join the sibling registry?

My wife and I joined and posted about our son (now 6 weeks old) but it appears we are the first to do so even though I can see on these boards that others have been successful, too.

It would be great to connect and connect our kids one day....

    Warm Regards,

    Nicole & Shanee
