has anyone used their FSA to pay for donor sperm??

Hi there-I havent posted in a while but thank God for my Flexible Spending Acct at work, though I have yet to use it for donor sperm. It has paid for IUI's last year and other IF related stuff. I went to the ASIFLEX website and cant really get a straight answer as to whether the cost of donor sperm is reimbursable. I am a little too embarrassed to call them and ask one of the rude reps that likes to answer. Does anyone know the answer to this? Thank you

  • Yes, it should be covered, but you do have to get a letter of medical necessity for the use of donor sperm. Good luck! I am going to submit my claim at the end of the month and I sure hope it works. I've talked to other people, though that have done this with no problem. :-)
  • Thanks.. medical necessity for donor sperm. HMMMMM. Well, I'm single and going through a clinic so I think I need donor sperm, lol. I will submit it to them and see what they say. SSBD.
  • My RE was very accomodating and wrote the letter of medical necessity for me without any questions. So hopefully your doctor will be just as quick about providing you with the letter. Good luck.
  • Mine won't pay for the vials, but will pay for the storage. Go figure...
  • I was able to use mine to purchase a vial. It was a big help but i only had enough for one. Misskris maybe you can email them from their website. That's what I did and got an answer quickly. my card is through TASC though. Good luck.
