  • I'll be your company. I'm getting inseminated today usingDonor 13353. It is my 6th IUI. Got pregnant with him in Nov. but miscarried. Looking forward to trying again. Have 3 possibly 4 eggs. What's your story?
  • Awesome! I'm glad to have some company. I'll start off with a big GOOD LUCK to you today! I hope all goes well! Sending you lots of baby dust. I got pregnant last March, quite a surprise. I wasn't necessarily trying, it just happened. I of course was thrilled and scared. Things were great until my 19 week ultrasound. They told me that she had a lethal skeletal dysplasia and that she wouldn't make it. I was devastated. Had alot of pregnancy complications starting a couple weeks before 7 months. Ended up being induced at 30 weeks. She was born sleeping. :( I started seeing a fertility specialist in January. My first IUI was unmedicated. This second one he started me on clomid and ovidrel trigger. Just had my 2nd IUI on 3/1. I had 2 mature follies and had 2 smaller ones. So I'm at least thinking I had 2. Will test next weekend. Praying for my little rainbow baby! What about you?
  • And I'm so sorry about your m/c in November. Really praying this goes well for you today.
  • Thanks all went well. Donor 13353 had a 21 million count so really good. Looks like four eggs. I go tomorrow for my second vial. I am so sorry about your daughter. Did you get pregnant with a boyfriend? How did you decide to go it alone this time? Which donor are you using?
  • Glad to hear it went well and good luck today! Sounds like the odds are in your favor. Are they going to monitor you with bloodwork or are you just doing a HPT? I got pregnant last time with my boyfriend. Once I told him that I was pregnant he split. I just haven't found the one that I want to really reproduce with and I'll be 33 next month. Doctor says my FSH is slightly high and my AMH is slightly low. I don't want to miss out on my chance at being a mommy just sitting around waiting for a man. So...that's how I've arrived at this point. I'm using 13314. Not sure if I'll switch donors if it didn't work this month or just stick with this donor.
  • Lots and lots of baby dust to you today!
  • Well I am sorry to hear about the bf and I actually can relate to that. Did you tell him the baby died or does he know nothing?
I also can relate to you on the going ahead with a baby despite not having a man in my life. I value the role of the father and husband just never found someone to fill it. I am tired of dealing with someone else's agenda and time table and my fertility dimishing.
Well my RE does two vials so I had the second vial of 13353 today and it was 16 million so that is very good. Hopefully it will take.
I will look at your donor now. What were you looking for in a donor? What was the most important qualities? Is there anything you didn't love about your donor and what was the one thing that tipped you over the edge with that particular one?
  • I'm glad that someone can relate, but I'm sad that you do at the same time. It stinks for anyone to have to go through that. I'm very sorry. He doesn't know anything about her. I tried to reach out to him when I had my ultrasound, but he wouldn't respond. I very much value the role of a father and husband too, and hopefully we'll both find someone to fill that role someday. I kind of wish my RE did two vials. I may ask him if I have to go for another round. Sounds very promising for you! I'm not sure what the count was on my last one. The paper said 85 ml or something like that. I don't have a clue what that transfers to, and it was 40% motility. I had picked 13464 from the very beginning as my top pick. My daughter was bi-racial, so I wanted to stick with the same this time. One of the nurses told me that I was CMV negative, so I had to choose a negative donor. Medical history was a big factor for me, I work in the law field so that kind of drew me to him as well, and also wanted to stick with someone who had 5 or more reported pregnancies. Arriving at 13314 as my donor, it was kind of a number choice at the end. I'll be 33 next month and the year 14. Sounded like it was meant to be, lol. The only thing I wish were a little different with this donor are the height and weight. Just wish he were slightly taller and little heavier, but he sounds average, so I really can't complain. It turned out that I was negative for current CMV, but I guess have been exposed in the past and I could have ended up getting either CMV negative or positive. I didn't find this out until I had already purchased 13314. What about you? What were you looking for and what tipped you over the edge with him?
  • This was my third donor. The first one I had three IUIs with. After that I wanted a new donor. I called client services and asked them about several donors that I was deciding between. They can view adult photos and describe them. The client service rep liked one donor but said the couple of other choices weren't that handsome. I wanted a donor with blonde hair because the men in my family are all tall with blonde hair and I have dark hair and I thought it would be fun to watch to see which color hair ended up. So I said to the donor tell me which blonde hair men are the most handsome and she chose 3. I ended up buying 13353 and not the other two because looks were nice and I was glad she said he was most handsome but I wasn't going to choose anyone unless they had fantastic grades and were super smart which he is and had an outgoing pleasant personality. Heal so is 6'3" and fit w/ blue eyes. He is an engineer. He seemed so fun and nice in his conversation. Loved how he said his dad looks like Santa Claus. Liked the fact his mom was a teacher. Also had to choose CMV negative. Medical balanced well with mine. But for me, all things being equal I want an open donor. My child may want to meet him one day. What are your thoughts about open vs. closed?
  • Btw I had bought vials at that time for the 2nd donor and used the other one first because he made such a point in saying he would respond to inquiries by offspring. That donor didn't get me pregnant.
  • This one I'm using now did, I just miscarried but I got attached to thinking of him as my donor and father of my baby, which even though he has nothing to do with the baby, the baby is still his baby, so I decided to try again with 13353. It must be bizarre for the donors to know they are fathers and still not "be" a father. Plus he has great counts.
  • You know Hopeful, whether or not we ever get pregnant again, and I hope we do, we are now mothers. Our babies may have died, but at one time their hearts beat inside of us and we are their mothers. They are just waiting for us one day. I fully believe that. Did you name your child?
  • That's really cool that they were able to tell you that. I guess I kind of had that too. I found a thread on here where CCB was describing a break down of facial features on my donor. I liked what they had to say. I think my donor is alot like me too. I'm a very determined person, and I don't like to let anything get me down. I believe you never know what will happen unless you give it a try and give it your best! I would love for my child to be able to get in touch with their father some day. I really do hope this round works for you. I think I read somewhere on here that even with the anonymous donors the child can contact CCB and they'll at least make one attempt to contact the father, and it's up to him at that point whether or not to respond. I do think it would be so weird to know that you have children out there that have your genes, but you have no idea where they are. And you are exactly right, we are both mommies. I feel so privilege to have carried my little girl for 7 months. I was not ready to have her when I did at 7 months. One part because I knew the outcome the doctors were predicting, but even more wanted those last 2 months with her. I was ready to go on with the pregnancy even though it was a big health risk. But I wanted that time with her. I was gaining 3 pounds a day. Nothing could stop the weight gain.
  • I had gained like 50 something pounds before they said they had to induce me. I was the talk of all the doctors and nurses. I just pray for smooth and healthy pregnancies for both of us now! As for open vs. anonymous. I really do like the idea of an open donor, and I think you covered your bases with your donor with the fact that he guarantees to respond. That's great! I didn't make the final decision to go with an open donor just because there are no guarantees and I just didn't want to have to face rejection and I really liked the donor I went with. I do like the fact that they'll at least reach out once even to anonymous donors and we'll at least have one shot at it if they want to when they get older.
  • The donor I'm using now wasn't the one who made the statement about talking to the offspring it was the second donor I used. I find it so fascinating how each person makes a choice that is so important. On some of the donors I can't understand why they were chosen! Wow with the weight gain!!! Were you able to lose it? What was the cause? Fluid retention?
  • The weight gain was so crazy. It was all fluid. They said I developed mirror syndrome. My little girl was swellingn and my body was mirroring what hers was doing. I was put on IV lasix and a catheter for the next 2 days. They discharged me and sent me home with pill form lasix. I was home for a day and all the fluid starting moving upward in my body. They admitted me back in the hospital for a few more days of IV lasix and cather. They gave me a pass on that Friday to leave the hospital for my daughter's funeral, but had to return right after. From Wednesday to Saturday morning I lost 42 pounds. Dr. said when I get pregnant again they will start me on baby aspirin. I also just read about your experience back in January. I am so, so sorry you had to go through that, but am very glad that your body bounced back so quickly!
  • Any word Hopeful? Pos or neg?
  • BFN. :( Now I'm back to looking for another donor. How are you feeling?
  • Well last time I was pg I had an upset stomach for no reason the week before. I'm having that again. I did feel so cramps yesterday that reminded me of pregnancy. But I will find out wed afternoon. I'm sorry for your BFN. When you have a few choices of donors I would love to help debate the narrowing down!
  • Well that sounds promising. I can't wait to hear how things go for you Wednesday! I will definitely let you know once I have it narrowed down some. I had thought about taking a break this month, but my cousin is a nurse at a fertility clinic in another state. She recommended that I keep trying unless I thought I needed a mental break. I actually had some alternate choices to consider right now. But I do believe I'm going to at least try 2 more rounds with my RE.
  • My cousin who is in fertility treatment was told those who are persistant get pregnant. My first pregnancy took 5 tries.
  • Well then persistent I will be! That's one thing I'm very good at, lol. It's nice to hear that your cousin agrees. I'm very excited to hear how things go for you this Wednesday.
  • Looks like a negative took a preg test today. Will get blood test tomorrow
  • I'm sorry. I really thought I was going to hear that you got a BFP this month. Are you going to try again this cycle?
  • hi
i am new to this chain
and i am in 2WW---looonnnggg wait!
  • Hi Purple! I know, it is such a LONG 2 weeks. Hopefully, you're able to stay busy and not think about it. Much easier said than done. How far along in your 2ww are you? Lord willing I'll be having my next IUI next week!
  • i had my first unmedicated IUI on sunday. it was all pretty simple. bloodwork on day 2, us on day 10 and day 14, ovidrel that night and IUI day 15 which was March 16. RE said the timing was "perfect, and that i had one really juicy follicle ready to pop". am nervous, single, 41 and first go at it....
  • That's awesome! So do you have to follow up with bloodwork, or just doint home pregnancy tests? You should get to test around the 30th, is that right? Fingers crossed and prayers for a positive for you!
  • I got the bloodwork done from dr today and am pregnant after all!!!! Consider my donor Hopeful he really does the trick. Super smart and very handsome. Nothing but negatives and then I try him and both positives on my 5th and 6th IUIs.
  • Congratulations Sweettheartt!!! I am so happy for you!! Please keep me posted!
