Why does my husband have to get tested for infectious diseases?

If we are using a sperm donor why does my husband have to get tested for infectious diseases?I understand about the donor being tested as well as me.

    my husband had to get tested as well. Have no idea why!

    My RE said that they follow the guidelines outlined by ASRM and they require it. It scares my husband though and it's making him rethink the whole process.

    I believe it is to protect you and your baby from potential exposure to infectious disease during your pregnancy. It is not something to worry about. If it concerns you or your husband, you should absolutely discuss it with your doctor.
