When a donor is sold out, what is the likelihood of them donating again? Does the company contact the donor or is it if they feel like donating again? We really liked this donor so we were just wondering since we have one vial left.

It depends on the specific donor. Some donors may have vials in quarantine that may be released after a future blood draw.
Donor 14354 completed our donor program last summer and we've sold all the vials that we had for him.
If you haven't done so already, you can contact Client Services at 866-927-9622 and ask to be added to the notification list, so we can contact you if we receive any buyback vials.
The number of family units per donor is something that we work hard to limit so we can't simply ask a donor to provide more vials. We only reactivate a donor for families that already have a child by the donor and need more vials for a sibling. Donor Reactivation is costly, because regulations require that the retired donor go through the entire screening process as if he were a brand new applicant. The client is responsible for paying a reactivation fee to cover some of these testing costs, in addition to potential travel expenses for the donor, and the cost of the vials. Not all retired donors are able or eligible to be reactivated. If the donor is able and willing, the reactivation process can take about a year. Here's more info on this process: https://cryobank.com/Services/Post-Conception-Services/Donor-Reactivation/
Also, if you need any assistance finding a new donor, please don't hesitate to contact our Client Services team.

The reactivation fee is already a shared cost, meaning the fee that one client pays does not cover the full cost of the screening process. Travel expenses may be handled differently. I would suggest giving us a call at 866-927-9622 so we can provide you with more specific details, especially if there is already a reactivation in progress.
