Can you request a donor to come back? What all is involved?

It is possible to request a donor reactivation if you already have a child by that donor, however, the process is time consuming and costly.
If the donor is able and willing to return, he must re-enter the program as if he is a new applicant. He must go through the screening process again and you would be responsible for the testing costs. This reactivation fee starts at $1,500 and it can be more if the donor is out of the area and requires travel expenses (airfare, lodging, etc).
As far as the timeline goes, it usually takes about a year from when a reactivation starts to when vials are available to purchase. Vials must be quarantined for at least 6 months which is one of the reasons that it takes so long.
There is no guarantee that you will receive vials because it's possible that the donor may not pass the screening process or vials may not be eligible to be removed from quarantine.
Please keep in mind that vials, storage, and shipping are not part of the $1,500 reactivation fee. You would need to purchase that separately.
