body mass index

Would it be possible to add body mass index to the advanced search for donors menu? This can be calculated from height and weight information. I am concerned about obesity, and I would like to search for donors with BMI in the normal range.

    Hi Sun -

    We do not use standard BMI because it doesn't take into account body types. For example, a muscular guy can very easily be listed as overweight or even obese despite the fact he doesn't have an ounce of fat on him. Similarly, a lot of our applicants are still "filling out", and would score as underweight.

    We provide height and weight for all donors, so if BMI is important to you, you certainly can apply it yourself.
