IUI by Midwife

Hi! Does any one know where I can find a midwife to perform the IUI procedure in San Francisco area with a low cost? If they can be available during weekend that will be great. Most of the doctor or OBG offices are close during weekend.

    I don't live near San Fran but it has been my experience that midwives, although they could perform this usually don't. I would go to a reproductive specialist instead of a regular OB anyway. They are more expensive yes, but its worth it to go to the professionals about this.

    I agree,, I do not think a midwife would do this procedure. The sperm has to be prepped and thawed a certain way and they dont have the equipment or experience for this. You are likely going to have to see a Reproducive Endocrinologist. Save your pennies as if you go unmedicated, there are no fewer ultrasounds required and alot cheaper. So I would really inquire with a specialist.

    I work at a practice with mds & midwives in VA. Our midwives will do it if the ovulation is on the weekend. An obgyn office that is working with you for IUI, should allow you to see the on call md if you ovulate on the weekend.
