Things or Foods to Avoid during TWW?

I go in for my third IUI tomorrow morning and want to make sure I am doing everything right this time (without being too neurotic about it). I cut out coffee back in January, but have replaced it with a cup of tea in the morning (sometimes green, sometimes black). Should I not drink that? Are there foods I don't want to eat? I usually go to the gym everyday at lunch. Should I lay off the exercise during my TWW? Any advice, suggestions or even recommendations of foods or activities that may increase my odds, I am open to trying. I took the week off from work (to avoid work stress) and was even thinking of booking a massage a few hours after my IUI to help relax even more.

Thanks in advance.

  • This is all info for ppl who are pregnant but I don't see why it wouldn't be good prior to as well:

Any activity that you are used to doing before prenancy is ok after pregnant. If you run normally then running is ok during etc.

You should cut out all caffeine including coffee and tea. Stay away from lunch meats unless you cook till steaming. Read up on what fish and seafood to stay away from. Wash all veggies and fruit really good.

Lets see, stay away from kitty litter (toxoplasmosis), don't do heavy lifting. Stay away from strong fumes like cleaning stuff. No lavender lotions, bath stuff or scents (lavender is bad for pregnant ppl)...

I've heard accupuncture, there are a lot of girls on here who swear by it, we've never done it. Other than luck and great timing I don't think there is much else you can do. But avoiding stress is obviously probably the best thing you can do prior to and during pregnancy.

Sex is controversial too.....that's all i know! Good luck!
  • I also heard avoid prepared cole slaw...not sure why..
  • Hi all, this s just my opinion but I do believe that all of us here are willing to do everything we can to increase our chances of getting a BFP. for that reason alone, we are more educated and aware of what is good for our bodies during the time of conception, so pug, my advise is spend your 2ww enjoying yourself. After my second iui I had planned on a doing a strenuous hike and asked my Dr if it would be ok. He told me "we want you to do all the things you usually do.....we want you to feel happy. It is the best thing for you" So I say spend your time doing what makes you happy and you will probably become more relaxed than if you are doing things to "try" to relax ;) Best of luck to you!!
  • As I prepare to leave for the RE for IUI 3, I am feeling nervous and excited. But I can honestly say I will spend the rest of the day relaxing (massage and then baking) and this weekend, I'm off to Lake Tahoe for some fun. I will definitely make the most of this TWW.
  • Ohhh, have fun!
  • Have fun! And lots of luck relaxing and getting your BFP! I live about 3 hours from tahoe and climbed Half Dome 5 days before I got my BFP! I found it very helpful to keep busy and do things I enjoyed. It really helps keep your mind off of all your excitement!
  • Keep in mind that the majority of people who get pregnant and have healthy babies don't know they are pregnant until well after the tww, so I wouldn't worry too much about anything. Even drinking is okay during this period of time. The only thing I have heard is not overheating your body with hot baths/hot tubs or excessive exercise.

    Positive karma your way!
  • OMG it's only been six days since my IUI (one week from the day tommorrow).... I really need a sign. Should I have one by now? I keep hoping my boobs will get sore, I'll feell nauseas or have some implantation bleeding. I just need a dang sign!
  • Good luck Pugmama. I had my 2nd iui 8/9/11. Wait and see now. Keeping positive thoughts... Staying super busy with work. Haven't really cut out anything except to start using decaffeinated coffee. Keep us posted
