Need advice, feeling hopeless :(

Hi Guys,

We are in a tough position and I just don't know what we should do, so I would like to ask you all for some advice.

We started with IVF for sex selection, as my husband has a genetic disease, and if we had a girl, the bad gene would be passed to her. We started off with 10 good eggs harvested. 4 dropped and we were left with 6 good eggs, but the cells multiplied very slowly, and by day 4, the fertilized eggs only had 6 cells rather than the 8 or more the doctor expected. After day 4, the cells stopped multiplying altogether.

Our doctor suggested we move on and try IUI with donor sperm as I was told my eggs "did not do well in the artificial environment outside of the body." Has anyone else ever heard anything like this?

We followed the doctor's advice and tried 3 cycles of IUI using donor #13171, but have not gotten pregnant.

We are not sure anymore if we should continue with IUI, or go back and try IVF again.

We would appreciate hearing about anyone else's experience with something like this, or any advice you might have

Feeling very hopeless :(

Thanks

  • I would probably not do ivf again before you give IUI more of a try. This site is full of people that got a positive on the fifth or sixth try. One woman on her tenth. I also have 3 failed IUI attempts with the same donor. From now on I am switching donors every time. Countless here get their first positive after switching. To be dead honest we don't know these donors. It is foolish to get that attached. We don't really know what we are getting attached to.
  • I agree with sweetheart. Try IUI again. I am on my 3 rd attempt with IUI now. I switched donors this time too. Hoping to hear positive results for all.
  • I used the same donor 4 times without success then switched and still didnt get pregnant- so im going back to the first one- i think they all can u pregnant eventually unless you have some underlying issues etc.
  • Perhaps ivf with either your husband sperm or your special selected donor especially if he has had a positive pregnancy. Do u have to wait the. 5 day for gender selection? How about a day two or three transfer? Check with the embryologist .
