Hi everyone,
My husband and I have been married for almost 6 years. He had a vasectomy in his first marriage and we had always planned to have it reversed. Unfortunately, by the time we were in a position to pay for the reversal, his ex decided to sue him for custody of their two kids. That was four years ago, and we're still technically in court since his ex lost custody altogether and has used excuse after excuse to delay the hearing for a child support order. Anyway, that's a story for a different group. :)
We had his reversal done 2 years ago, after having been married for 4 years and about 10 years after his vasectomy. We found out last year that his reversal didn't work at all - 0 sperm count from three different samples.
So, after going through a time of mourning / depression, we finally decided to try IUI with donor sperm. I had my first IUI this past weekend. Since I'm relatively young (30) and my blood work showed excellent ovarian reserve, we timed it to my cycle using an OTC ovulation predictor kit.
My husband and I are really hopeful that we will get pregnant right away. We bought two vials from the same donor, so if I don't get pregnant this time we'll try again next month. We're having to pay totally out of pocket - my insurance won't cover infertility treatments if either party had elective sterilization, and 4 years in court doesn't seem to do much except dry up your savings, shrink your wallet and use up the equity in your home.
Anyway, that's my story. :) I haven't had a lot of time to peruse these boards, but I am hoping that they will be encouraging, and hopefully I will be able to share a success story soon.
