progesterone

My Dr. prescribed progesterone after my first IUI today. Has anybody taken it and how many MG. did you take? I'm nervous about taking it because of all the side effects.

  • Hello i have been on progesterone for all 5 of my iuis. I start taking it 72 hours after my 1st lh surge. I think im on 80 mg or crinone. Its a cream and its vaginal. I had some side effects my first few cycles. I have a little bit less side effects now. Or maybe im just used to it now. My side effects are similar to pregnancy symptoms. Kinda stinks !!
  • Hi, I had my first IUI last thursday and doctor started me on Estradiol 2mg twice a day and Endometric (vaginal) once a day 48 hours after my 1st procedure,,I too, am nervous about this...Best of Luck!
  • I was always put on 200mg vaginal inserts after my IUI's. I am 8 weeks pregnant now and still on it. The only side effect I really feel is bloating.
    Good luck!!
  • I have natural progesterone oral supplements. An acpuncturist recommended them from Pure Prescriptions. Has anyone taken them? When do you decide to start taking them in your cycle? And, when do you stop taking them in preparation for IUI, or do you do that? I need a little bit instruction and recommendation.

On my next cycle, I will take Orvidel and clomid to ensure that the follicle will mature. I think and suspect that I'm progesterone deficient since my cycles are short and I've never been pregnant.

jaimec - From what company, did you get the vaginal inserts of progesterone?
  • Juliet - my doctor prescribed them after each IUI. They seem to alternatively come from CuraScript or Freedom Fertility Pharmacy.
  • jaimec - oh, thanks for your reply. I'm wondering if the oral ones are good enough. any suggestions on taking it once you start the ovidrel and clomid?
  • when i was doing IUI's, i only used it during the tww. now that i am pregnant, i take it daily for the first trimester. might want to check with your doc.
sorry for the delay in replying!
  • Thanks for your reply. And...don't worry about how quick it comes. We are all busy and being a new mother can be a lot on the mind. Congratulations!
