where is my period?

I am waiting my cycle to start so I can get inseminated this month,(after a sad miscariage two months ago) it was due yesterday (full flow) and today I haven't even started spotting.I am positive that my partner hasn't get me pregnant :) Usually I'm regular (I have 28 days cycle) but this is going for the 30th day.
Do any of you know if this is a bad sign?
What can cause the delay? Have any of you have gone throgh the same after a miscarriage?
PLEASE HELP!

  • I know the feeling. I have not had a miscarriage though. My partner and I are trying to attempt our first IUI next month so we have been trying to track the LH surge and ovulation this month. My periods have always been like clockwork until the last few months. Before I could tell you the exact time of day they would hit. Even these past few months though, I've never been more than a day or two late. Right now I'm 9 days late. I know there is no way she got me pregnant so it's a little frustrating that it happens when we are trying but hopefully it will we still be able to gauge good timing next month.

    Good luck to you!!
  • I have read that even though your period doesn't hit, it's still likely that you will experience a surge and ovulation. I'm attempting to track as though my period had hit the day it was supposed to and counting that way. Sounds like it's still possible to go through the insemination. Just harder to time.
  • HI BillieandTam:
Thank you for your reply it is good to know I am not the only one. I got my period today; seven days late. Should I count today as day 1 or as day 7? can I ovulate in 3 or 3 days more even though I am still in my period? Please reply! thanks.
  • Hi gris7ana,

That is pretty funny, I got mine this morning as well, woke me up at 6 am - almost 10 days late. I do know that if we are stressed that its possible our periods will be halted or delayed. My mom always told me that - she is a nurse.

If your period came today, then today is day 1 of your cycle. If it was yesterday - then yesterday would be day 1. From everything I've heard and read ovulation can occur anywhere between day 10 and day 18 or something. However, every one is different. I'm going to use home ovulation tests daily starting on day 10 to try to catch my LH surge. I've heard its best to test twice a day- morning and midday or early afternoon so you don't miss it or you get more of a heads up. I'm only trying once a day this month around noon everyday. When I see the surge, I'm going in the next morning for insemination.

I am using a site I found online that helps track everything. If you input all symptoms, previous cycles and period start dates, body temp, etc. and it helps you estimate when you may ovulate. Of course, It is an estimate since everyone's body is different so I'm using the home test too. Here is the site: http://www.fertilityfriend.com

Good luck and baby dust to you!! :)
  • Thank you for all the info and wishes. So I guess we are going to be trying almost on the same exact days, that's really good!!! what donor are you guys using? IUI or ICI? Keep in touch with any update, I already made my CD3 appt with my doctor and hopefully on CD12 get inseminated. They do US to check ovulation but I am going to follow your advice and buy ovulation test from day 11-14 that is usually when I ovulate.
GOOD LUCK AND LOTS OF BABY DUST!!!
  • Hello gris7ana & BillieandTam

Hello there we have totally been going through the same thing for oh lets say the last past YEAR...... Omg it's so annoying my wife has had a regular cycle since forever and just when we decide to start TTC that totally went out of the window some months it didn't come at all and others it would just be out of wack. However, the last couple of months it seems to be trying to get on track possibly because we've added a daily routine of exercise to our list of things to do for the last past 4 months. So I don't know if that played a part or not but I hope it stays on track because we want to inseminate in September.
  • Hi gris7ana,

Yeah sounds like we will be trying at the same time :) We will have to keep one another updated how it's going. We are doing IUI and we are actually using Pacific Reproductive Services in Pasadena. Our first choice donor is there and we found out that my insurance doesn't cover the actual IUI so we had to go with a bank that performs them. Our second choice donor is 11155 from CCB. If we can't get enough vials from the PRS donor then we'll be transferring from CCB. Looks like our first try will be the first week of August sometime. Are you IUI or ICI?

    Hi Gandysweet,

Wow a year, that must be frustrating but glad to hear things are looking up for you now :)

I'm sure the exercise is helping. Usually exercise lightens your periods but it does help regulate them and most importantly exercise is great way to relieve stress so if you are having a regular outlet of stress relief it would make sense that it helps to regulate the cycle again. Best of luck to you guys in September! I'm making a move to the east coast end of September so we are hoping to get two IUIs in before that to avoid the extra shipping costs. I pray we are successful before moving. :)

Nice chatting with you both gris7ana and Gandysweet. Baby dust to you!
