Low motility rate

I underwent my first IUI procedure one week ago. I ordered ICI vials and my physician said that after the wash the sperm count was 83 million and motility was 35%. Everything I read online says that motility should be above 50%. Do I have a reason to feel as panicked as I do?

  • Hi Act -

Congrats on your first IUI! There is no reason to be concerned. If 35% of the 83 million sperm were motile, that gives you 29 million motile sperm, which is way above our guarantee.

Also, studies have shown that inseminations with more than 5 million motile sperm do not increase the chance of pregnancy.

Best of luck and we'll keep our fingers crossed for you!
