First iui coming up!

I'm getting my first iui this Friday. I've been tracking my ovulation with ovulation test strips but now I've become worried because online it says that when your positive for lh surge that's not when your actually ovulating. My periods are regular and the lh surge always shows up 15 days after the first day of my period which will be this Friday. Also, is it true the sperm only stays alive for 24 hours since it's frozen? Any advice or help to get prepared for this big day would be appreciated! Thanks!
