4th IUI today

Hello everyone,

Today I had my 4th IUI. I took a 2 month break and tried IUI with Clomid this time. I so excited! I had 2 folicles 20mm each and Dr. gave me trigger shot yesterday and today he did IUI.
I am so hopeful and feel really positive this time. I hope the 4th try is the charm. Anyone else have 4th try experiences to share?

  • Hello Armstrong -

We were successful on our 4th try. :) I hear that that is the average number that people end of being successful - so it's bound to happen for you. :) We took a month off after the 3rd try and it turned out to be the best thing we ever did! :) It was getting very discouraging after the 3 previous negatives and my wife and I decided that the break was needed. We rested, enjoyed each other, and tried again the following month with success! :) We are in our 12th week of pregnancy now. :) I will keep my fingers crossed for you! Wishing you lots of baby dust! :) Keep us posted.
  • OMG congrats! I just got my BFP too! The feeling of seeing that BFP then having it confirmed is unexplainable, isn't it!

Wishing you a healthy pregnancy :)
  • RStrasburg and aprilfoolz, congratulations! You both must be super excited! I cant wait until I get a BFP...I will be so happy too.

Before you both missed your period, did you have any early pregancy symptoms? If so, what were they? So far, my breasts are swollen and more sensitive than normal..but I dont know if that is related to the doctor giving me a trigger shot.
I would love to hear what type of symptoms you experienced and how early you felt them.
    Thank You..and again congratulations :)
  • Thank you! I am super excited & still dont believe it!

Let me tell you...I knew this one was different then the first one right off the bat. The first one was 50mg clomid and I used an OPK and got inseminated 26 hours later. This one I was on 150mg clomid, begged my doctor for the trigger shot because I was afraid I would get my smiley face during the 4th of July weekend so she finally decided to let me have it. So I did the trigger shot at 9:30pm on the 28th and got inseminated at 9:30am on the 30th.

The procedure was so much quicker and smoother than the 1st one and for the next 5 days I could not get enough sleep. I slept probably 18 hours a day those days, I just couldn't stay awake! By day 5 I had heartburn every day, mostly at night and the very early morning, I knew neither of those things were normal for me. Starting day 7 I started cheating and testing twice a day. Every day was negative. On day 8 I woke up in the early morning with my breasts hurting so bad that it woke me up. My nipples didnt hurt a bit just the outer breast (sorry if tmi!) My breasts are usually slightly sore right before my period but not like this. By day 9 I was getting some slight cramping off and on and started to worry that AF was on her way. Still testing and nothing.

By day 12 post iui which was this past Monday I woke up and tested like every morning and left the stick in the bathroom and forgot about it for about 20 minutes. When I went back in to throw it away I noticed a faint line that had not been there before! I got so excited and pulled out the Clear Blue Easy digital to make sure and right away it said "pregnant"! I called the doctor and she was pretty negative and discouraging and told me it was probably a false positive but I knew in my heart I was pregnant. She refused to do blood work until Thursday and when Thursday came it confirmed it! As of about day 13 (Tuesday) my appetite has already increased and I never feel full. My doctor said it happens. I still am having some off and on cramping which had me worried but apparently it too is normal during early pregnancy. They resemble AF cramps but dont last but a minute or 2 at a time. Oh also my stomach is a little sore like I have been doing sit ups, but I haven't!

I hope that helps some! Sorry if I kinda went on and on, just excited and want to help anyone I can!

Baby dust to you and please let us know your outcome!!

    ~Becky
  • OmG...How exciting. Yes, thank you for telling me all of your symptoms. It is helpful. Today is day 5 post IUI for me and the only symptom I have is really full and tender painful nipples for the past 2 days but I dont know if that could be a side effect of the trigger shot.
I will keep you updated. I hope this time is the time for me too. :)
  • Well to be honest, there were not really many symptoms. It is actually my wife that is pregnant and the only thing I remember is she was TIRED!!!! She was just plain exhausted, even if she had plenty of sleep the night before. I think that she had some small cramping, but that was about it.

I wish you the best - please keep us posted!! :)
  • Hello,

I just had my blood work done to see what my progesterone levels were and I was wondering what yours were when you found out you were pregnant?
My levels are high but not sure if this means I may be pregnant or not. Im still in the 2 week wait. Thanks...Hope to hear from you guys.
  • My Dr. didn't even have me do progesterone blood work on my 2nd time around now that I think of it!
  • Hello,

No luck this time. Started AF. We are very sad.
