Any chances?

Hello CCB admins, I want to ask you something. Is there any chance that California Cryobank send the wrong vials or vials from a different donor?
I know it may sound hilarious but could I ask for a caucasian donor vial and get an african american one?
Thank you

  • Gladys you made me laugh so hard!!!!!! No they verify the donor number several times before it leaves. They mention that in one of the videos. Your dr's office should double check as well. Since we are pregnant by the same donor we will have to compare babies to see if we have a matching set or if they switched one of ours with a different donor. You are jus having last minute mother jitters.
  • I know about the double check like I also saw the video. Even though, I think my question deserves some attention and respect because the donor and vials system is managed by humans and people could fail sometimes.
I wonder if there is or there was any mistake about the delivery of the vials in terms of a different donor, during the vast CCB experience.
    Thank you
  • Hi Gladys -

Yes, this is a good question and one of the reasons why we chose to create a video on this topic.

When you place your vial order, you will receive an email confirmation with the order details, including your donor number. We have not had any issues of a vial order being delivered with vials of an incorrect donor.

We have a stringent quality control system in place and our Cryogenics department does four quality checks by two different technicians cross-referencing our database before the vials are shipped out.

The shipment contains documents which include the client's name, donor number, vial type, color code, donor description, vial date, vial number, etc.

The vial itself has a serial number on it which includes the donor number. Facilities may receive multiple shipments from CCB and some physicians ask their patients to verify the donor number before insemination. To help ease your concerns, you can always ask your physician to verify the donor number on the vial before your insemination.

Best of luck with your insemination!
