tubal patent test and other fertility tests, experiences and feedback

Hi ladies,

I am in the early stages of fertility testing now to see if there are any blockages or anything else that could make it hard for me to conceive before I purchase vials.

I met with a fertility specialist and have had blood tests and in the next 3-4 weeks will have a tubal patent test to flush my tube to see if there are any blockages or anything.

I would love to hear from others who have been through these or other tests about how you found the experience and what if any other tests are common to detect any potential problems.

  • I just had the tubal test as well last week- be prepared, it is pretty painful esp when they ask you to move from side to side to let the dye flow into your tubes. take the pain killer as needed.
good luck, if all clear its a green light :)!!! yeah!
  • Thanks for the feedback, none of my friends or anyone I know has had it so I'm a little nervous but I figure it's better to know sooner rather than later if there are any problems.
  • So Singlemommy2015, what is next for you? Are you planning to get IUI or have IVF?

I am from Melbourne Australia so I am actually coming over to LA in August 2016 to get IUI if all goes well with my tests as I am still getting as financially prepared as I can be before I try IUI in case I am lucky enough for it to work the first time
  • I had a really tight cervix and the HsG was the most painful thing I have ever experienced in my life! Plus they had to do it twice bc the balloon slipped the first time. They wanted me to move after they injected the balloon and dye for the X-ray and I was frozen bc I was in such pain. As soon as they took everything out, pain instantly went away!
  • I had the HSG today and it was painful. Definitely cramped a lot. Felt a lot better afterwards but did have some mild cramping later.
  • I have had an HSG and SIS. The HSG was worse. Take some Ibuprofen about a half hour before the procedure.

Pom Lover: Same thing happened to me. The tube and balloon slipped out. So they only saw one side. They had to do it again using a cone to visualize the other side. Because I took the Ibuprofen before the procedure...it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Mild cramping afterwards.
  • Thanks for the feedback guys I had my tests and it helped to have some idea of what to expect. All looks good and now I just have to decide when is the right time for me as its such a big decision and I want to do my best to be financially ready as I can as a single parent
