Birth Control and Ovulation

Like so many of you, this is a very new process. I have asked the doctor many questions and recieved lots of answers, but sometimes it just doesn't seem right unless you get more information from others, like you, to fill in the blanks and who are going through the same thing. My partner and I are so ready to get started. We have had all the doctor visits and tests and diet changes, weight loss and counselings we can near stand. We are very ready to get the "party" started. My fertility chart should be in the mail within the next few days. OK,so in one appointment, the Doc says he will put me on birth control pills. Needless to say, our eyebrows raised and a high pitch "huh" came from our throats. I am now on the pill and from my understanding I am not to take the last 7 green ones because they don't want me to have a cycle. In not so many doctor words, can you explain to me what is happening exactly? How would this help us conceive? I understand it to help the doc better follow ovulation.

  • Your doc is probably trying to control your cycles as much as possible. I recently got pregnant on my 2nd IUI w/ LOTS of medication. We did the IUI 21 days AFTER my period ended. I was on 1 med to make my folicles grow, 1 to keep me from starting again, and finally a 3rd med to trigger ovulation. I thought the doc was insane & was ready to scrap trying that month, but decided to proceed & I turned up pregnant! It's amazing how they can control mother nature w/ meds. This process can be extremely frustrating at times, so support each other when the going gets tough. Best of luck to you & your partner!:)
