Length of time a donor

Hello admin,

I want to see if you can tell me the process of donation for the donors. I understand that it can take about a year for a donor's specimens to be released because of the testing. After that how long do the donors donate on average? I'm not yet ready to purchase and worry that the donor I'm interested in won't have available specimens or stop donating by the time I am ready. Thanks.

Hi Dixie -

Excellent question!

On average, donors participate in our program for about a year. On our donor catalog, you'll notice donors who are labeled as "New" which means that they had their first vial release within the past 60 days. It's not unusual for these "New" donors to be retired from donating.

Sometimes, even though a donor is "retired" and no longer donating, we still have vials in quarantine that are awaiting a future blood draw. In this case, there could be additional vials released in the future.

Any information on donor 13258 would be great. I would like to know if he is still donating, will he have any more ICI vials available, will there be anymore release of his specimens in the future and when ordering can I request 2 vials with separate freeze dates?

Hi Dixie -

Donor 13258 is no longer donating and will not have additional ICI vials released.

He has IUI vials in quarantine, so it is possible that additional IUI vials will be released in the future.

If you place your order by phone, you can check with the consultant at that time if there's a possibility of requesting separate freeze dates.
