Reported Pregnancies for Donor 13687?

Hi,

I was wondering how I could find out about the reported pregnancies for donor 13687? My wife and I are in the process of choosing another donor. We have had 5 unsuccessful attempts (2 ICI and 3 IUI) using a different donor - not from CCB.

I am starting to get discouraged because our first child was conceived from ICI at home on the first try! He's now five years old and it has taken a lot longer than expected for the second child.

Any help would be great!

Thanks,
Kym

  • Hi KB -

I'm sorry for the frustration you and your wife are experiencing. As anyone who has gone through this process can tell you, it is an unfortunate reality of trying to conceive (traditionally or through insemination).

The overall average is 4 medicated IUI cycles per successful pregnancy. The fact that were blessed on your first try last time doesn't mean you aren't subject to the averages in the big picture.

Odds certainly change based on age as well, so it may be that the 5 years since your first child are contributing to the difficulty as well. You should certainly consult your physician to discuss your options and express your concerns.

Donor 13687 has less than 5 reported pregnancies and no births, but he has only been available since the end of January. He would certainly give you just as good a chance at success as any other qualified donor.

    Best of luck,

    Scott

  • I was wondering if anyone has had recent success with this donor? I noticed the original comments were in 2011...
  • Oh I made a mistake, I see now that Kym's post was actually last month.
  • Has there been any update on Donor 13687 number of bpregnancies and births!"?
  • Hi TTC -

Donor 13687 currently has less than 5 reported pregnancies and no reported births. This is not unusual since he only became available about a year ago.

We have a diverse donor catalog with over 500 donors to choose from. Reported pregnancies are usually linked to the donor's vial availability and/or the popularity of the donor's characteristics. Characteristics such as a unique ethnic background may contribute to not being chosen very often by clients.

Births usually take some time to be reported. In addition to waiting for the client to give birth, it usually takes some time for the client to get back in touch with us once she is busy with a newborn.

Please keep in mind that we accept less than 1% of applicants into our donor program. All CCB donors are capable of contributing to a pregnancy. Another client's pregnancy or lack thereof has no bearing on your chance of success. There are many variables involved including type of insemination, use of fertility drugs, cycle tracking, maternal age, etc. For information about chance of success, it's important to discuss your insemination options with your physician.

  • I am currently 21 weeks with b/g twins using donor # 13687. First try, unmedicated IUi.
  • subecrn,
Congratulations! How exciting! We have a few more days until we test, but hoping to be positive this time (our third try with this donor).

  • Hello All,

I had two positive at home pregnancy tests with this donor. Blood work scheduled for this Friday.

  • Hi T!
Congratulations! We have two more days, and I'm dying to know. Do you happen to remember count/motility?? This was our third try using him, but the count was a little lower and motility less than previous viles (not that it necessarily matters, just curious).
    Thanks, and congrats again!

  • Hi LGB,

I believe the count was 18k. The Doctor was raving about this. I am not sure about the motility.

    Thank you and Good luck!!

  • Has anyone else become pregnant or given birth using Donor 13687 since the last post? I am using this donor for my very first IUI tomorrow and am curious!
  • I tried once with this donor but it didn't work. Probably am going to try again.
  • Blood work done twice and both came back positive! Our first doctor appointment at 8 weeks is scheduled for July 30 :-) Good luck to everyone else.
  • Congratulations Tarjar! Hope all is still going well! I had my second IUI with 13687 this morning and the count was amazing. My first try (unsuccessful) was 14mil total motile, but this time it was 47million! (94 million post wash with 50% motility). Not sure what would explain the diff in count between vials (same clinic), but I'll take it! Fingers crossed.
  • I'm happy to report that I delivered b/g twins on Oct. 2 using this donor. If I remember correctly, the count on the vial I purchased was 30 million.
  • Hello, I would like to report I had beautiful G/G fraternal twins using this donor in Sept 2015 on the first attempt with this donor and I too remember his count being much lower than expected but apparently it didn't matter much because previous donor had a much higher count that we tried 3x with no success. Go donor #13687 !!!
