sending vial

Hi,
I have an 'extra' vial of a retired donor that I want to send to a friend who was successful by this donor a few years ago. I am currently 28 weeks pregnant by a different donor and so my wife and I will never use this vial, we bought the last 11 vials of the donor I am pregnant with now.
My question - does anyone know how to ship a vial? It is at my ob's office and she has no means of shipping i.e. tanks, etc.
Thanks!

Yes there's a company (and I'll have to get back to you with the name) that you'll need to call to rent a tank. If I remember right it was like $450 total. I believe there was also a $500 deposit that is returned when the tank gets back to them. That included the tank and shipping. What they do is they take all your information, where the vials are, where they need to go, contact names.... etc. They ship the tank to point A, they will fill the tank with the vial(s) and ship it to point B (there will be a pre-filled out shipping lable included). Once the contact at point B receives it they will empty the contents of the tank and ship it back to the original rental company (again there will be a pre-filled out shipping label). They will then release your $500 deposit (to tell you the truth... I don't believe they ever actually charged me, but you have to authorize the charge either way). It sounds like a huge hassle, but the company does EVERYTHING for you, you just have to give them all the information.
I'll jump back on here when I find the name of the rental company. However, in the meantime, I know most clinics use the same rental company because I was told about this company by the clinic I used in Seattle and the clinic I used with my first pregnancy in Reno, so you should be able to call yours or any one and ask them. The one I went through is: Seattle Reproductive Medicine: 206-301-5000. You can always call them.
I hope this helps! Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy!!!
Just tell them what you want to do and they'll take it from there.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!
