Ovulation test: digital or not

Hi Ladies,
I'm trying to monitor my very first cycle and I'm at a loss with regards to the digital and regular OPK tests. Which one is better, more accurate?

Thanks in advance for your advice; I really appreciate it.

  • I'm using ClearBlue Monitor to follow my periods days and ovulation (so it is digital) during the last 5 months.

Digital is more accurate but expensive, than regular one. However, the regular one is also good as well. I don't think that it is different much.

For example, as beginning, when you just about your period, it's financially saving to use regular. When you becomes more knowledge about your own cycles, after two months. Then ready for IUI, then on the month that schedule for IUI, you should use digital. that is just my input.

    God bless us all.
  • mistyblue,

I agree with hannaha...we used the regular ones while we were just monitoring our OV. They will show you that you "do" OV. But, once we were on our IUI cycle, we went to the digital ones. That way, there's no confusion. The regular ones are just to "iffy" for me. With the digital it's either a yes or a no.

We got a positive on the Clear Blue Easy Digital on a Friday at noon. We did the IUI at 9am on Saturday and 12 days later we got a BFP! This was our first IUI. We are currently 7 weeks along and have our first ultrasound on the 16th. :)

    Good luck.

  • Just and FYI that I used 2 digital pregnancy tests, Walgreens Brand, and they were both defective. I would suggest when you use digital you purchase name brand. Good luck.
  • Hi ladies:
Thanks for the sound advice. I will definitely start with regular and progress to the fertility monitor.

    Misty and Carla: congratulations!

May we all be that lucky.
  • Hi Ladies,

We used the Clear Blue Easy Ovulation monitor. The digital, tricked out, will tell you the day with smiley faces and cost $250. It was completely off. We used it for two months to track ovulation only to find out from the reproductive specialist that it was off about 7 days. Just an FYI before you spend the money and time.
  • Wow congratulation MistyAndCarla for the first time IUI sucessful.
I wished that I will be the same as your guys. I'm on 2WW, and will test this Friday, my due date schedule for period. I cross my finger every day.
Luckily that i"m so busy, so don't feel three more days becoming un-bearable..:).

    God Bless Us All.
